From June winner Steven Denton:
IT'S PAT MILLS TIME
Raised by some recent discussions - the 2000 AD godfather. The political dynamo. He has boundless energy, endless creativity. He's often furious. He's often fantastic. He helped guide our illustrious organ through its earliest days and created some of its most enduring characters.
A.B.C. Warriors, Invasion, Charley's War, Deadlock, Defoe, Diceman, Dinosty, Finn, Flesh, Greysuit, M.A.C.H.1, Marshal Law, Nemesis the Warlock, Sexy Ostriches, Rico Dredd, Ro-Busters, Satanus, Black Siddha, Slaine, , Tweak, The Visible Man NEED I SAY MORE.
So let's pay tribute to this monolithic figure and his enduring and continuing legacy for which we owe so much - any of his characters, any of his memorable moments!
There will be a GN straight from the nerve centre for the winner of course, and one for Tharg's Choice - - all entries will be viewable here, on our dedicated FB page, and also on the official 2000 AD Tumblr and Twitter!
Rules for the art comp are these:
- It must fit the theme.
- You can enter as many times as you like but bear in mind it will split your vote so it may not be worth it.
- All entries have to be constructed specifically for this competition - so nothing you've done for anything else.
- You can enter either here or by directly putting it on our FB wall here: https://www.facebook.com/2000adartcomp/
YOU HAVE UNTIL JULY THE 30th WHEN WE SHALL PURGE THE VOTING DEVIANT
Great choice - looking forward to the first entrants!

Nice one, Tulio! A 2000AD/Doctor Who Weekly mash-up! I considered something similar myself... :D
Thank you too much, Andy! To be sincere, I drew this one with a overhead pen, cause my digital pen is broken and my ink pot is almost empty (I'm waiting for the pay day). When I had the idea I couldnn't resist to drew this one.The robotic elephant was drawn in A3 size ( and I had to scan in 3 parts separately). Cheers!

I'm a sucker for anything that's fantastic.
Many thanks, Fungus - I really enjoyed working on this one! :)
Wow... you really need to get Pat to sign the original and then sell prints!
Absolutely brilliant
That's an absolute winner Andy.....great work.
Amazing!

If there are any-! That's going to be a hella intimidating entry. How long did it take you, Andy?
Thank you Woolly and Dark Jimbo :)
Believe me, I get just as awed by other artists who contribute on here...
It took me a week to do, on and off. Like I said before, I really enjoyed working on this one so I guess it shows. :)
Oooooh Andy! :o

It takes me a week to get a stick figure rough that i like, let alone even
start a picture!
And with soooo many characters!
And what is essentially a portrait!
AND the detail!
Sir, you have made my favorite artists list. I am in awe.
Wow, praise indeed! That really means a lot - thank you so much! :D

Following on from Andy seems like a tough gig, but I wanted to make sure I entered this month.
that's a pretty sweet drawing Bolt1!
Agreed, love that mean expression - I know that's Bill, but that chin could so easily belong to someone else we know...

Commander Dan Dare? (just kidding)
Ah, cheers Guys. if anyone has seen me at a show over the last few years I've got stacks of little drawings like this (actually, some of them are little more than doodles while some really turn out well IMO) and they are only 5 x 5 cm so I'm glad it worked.
Lovely pic Bolt-01. Always a pleasure to see your work.
Wow Andy - great as always, possibly your best! I hope that Pat has the opportunity to see your entry as I think he would love it! (this whole July art comp thread for that matter). Why not throw it up on his facebook page - he would be flattered!
Nice one Bolt! Volgs dont stand a chance...
Many thanks, Rogue :)
Without any prompting from me, a couple of friends have already shared my drawing to Mr Mills on facebook. There's been no response as yet.

Well that negates any need for me to magic some time for my entry as its what I was thinking about executed
SO much better than I could. Superb!
Thanks for the kind comments and apologies for usurping your idea 😊
http://imgur.com/a/ZDg7L
May still tinker with this - the idea was to make it look like a more battered vinyl sleeve, but happy if this ends up as the final entry.... also a test of Imgur and my competence or lack of in such things!
That's brilliant, but you have to use the IMG tags to make it appear in your post.
Trying with the tag here and now in the previous - can't see it myself, though! Teething problems to be expected!
Think I have it....

That last one works, for me at least!
Bloody hell, Leigh! That's amazing...!! :o
Nice one!
Do I need to submit my entry again, since it's no longer visible?
Added Finn (everything is better with Finn, - certainly those 90s progs! Also gave Shako a bit of a rework... no more Lucas style meddling from me!

Ye Gods!
Best. Comp. Ever. :o
I made this collage for the comp mixing a Mytek (1992 version) I drew (pencil and pen tablet)and pasteups on Kevin O'Neil drawing and "King Kong Escapes!" movie poster, but although both (Metalzoic and Mytek) were published in 2000 AD, I know DC Comics owns the rights currently. Anyway, I submiting two versions (newspaper ad and colorful movie poster) to share in the forum.

I'd be interested to find out what the cause of conflict is, because, as pointed out, Marshal Law isn't a vigiliante...
If he crossed dimensions, I bet the judges would easily mistake him for one though. (And if he started his heavy handed tactics in the city, he would genuinely BE one...)

Everybody knows that for rhyming purposes it must be done on a Wednesday.
It is! The idea being that the stuff in Nemesis's cloak is all 2000AD orientated, and behind him is other stuff - If I had more time and space I'd have stuck in some more Toxic stuff and such!

Bolt-01, your image is missing, you should try and put it back up, if your having trouble with it send it on to me and i will put it up.
Leigh's Comic Rock is totally spot on! Music has always been a theme of Pats stories.

Awesome entries so far! Love the energy in James' pic above.
Is the deadline tonight or tomorrow night? I'm still colouring mine..
Ah, pants- I've not got it anymore- I posted it via photobucket but the original went in the post to a customer... The pic I took on my phone I deleted and that seems to have deleted it from my Insta as well... I didn't know that would happen.
In all fairness mine was a doodle and it's not a loss to the comp that I'm missing. It's my fault for not doing it properly.

Yep, Sex Warrior and Fear Teachers would have definitely added something. Actually, Fear Teachers is one of my favourite ever things that Pat (and John) ever did, so shame that a) it never got finished and b) I didn't think of that earlier and throw something together for the art comp.

Nice to see Grobbendonk, and unusual to see the Grob at that scale, makes you look at the character in a different way.
Who's the blond guy between Nem and Torque?
The writer?
