Events / Nor Con 6
24 September, 2016, 02:32:57 PM
Hi - if any Earthlets in the Norfolk area are about, Saturday 8th October, why not come say hello at NOR CON 6, at the Norfolk Showground!?

Paul Davidson, Lee Bradley and myself will be attending and doing a bit of drawing. I'll be doing mine for donations to charity (that way you can't get your money back!) and would be happy to discuss any commissions, sign a prog or two or check out your portfolio, on the day. It will be great to meet a few local Dredd-heads and dispense some instant justice!

Best wishes and maybe see you soon...

Off Topic / Re: RIP W. R. Logan

Bit stunned. Knew Stewart for 20years, was there when he first suggested, 'shall we do a fanzine'? And saw the birth of W.R. Logan. Been drunk too many times to count and once slept in the back of an estate car with the man so we could meet John Wagner the next day. He said I snored, I still don't believe him.

Stewart was a great storyteller and he could spin a life-yarn that would have you in stitches. He did a hell of a lot in his time from hard circumstances and I have nothing but respect for th guy. Really can't believe this has happened...

All the best, mate, you will be missed.

Radiator, I feel for you, bro, an honest confession. Take heart. I've been lucky enough to receive loads of 'wisdom', one of the best coming from Andy Diggle - don't fuss over ever line ad neauseum, comics are supposed to be fun.

My own limited insight would be the artists version of something an author once said; 'don't get it right, get it writ'!
No matter how you feel about it, see it through and simply reaffirm to yourself that you can do it. Improving is simply a matter of practise. Quitting mid flow may tell you you can't.

EVERYONE has the sort of days you are talking about.  The hardest thing to do in art is to make it look easy. Don't be too hard on yourself, pal and GOOD LUCK!

According to a clever friend of mine, before Dan Dare became 'pilot of the future' he was originally conceived as 'Chaplain-'!? Don't know if it's true, will have to listen to find out...

Hope its okay to post this here?  I am a HUGE fan of the Millennium Falcon, one of the greatest ship designs ever.  I really wanted to subscribe to the part works but my cheapness would not allow me to (I am greatly envious of you, sir).  To make up for my skin-flint ways, I bought a 'Hasbro Hero' Falcon from Argos and, in my spare time have been kit bashing / scratch building it. I've never tried doing something like this before but am having a lot of fun learning. Its not finished yet, but this is how my version is looking right now:

I'm not sure why I glued a bag of cement to the base or how I'm going to remove it, but there you go... :)

I look forward to seeing how yours turns out, Earthlet!

News / Crash Landing Podcast

Hi all,

Thought you may be interested in listening to this:
http://traffic.libsyn.com/comicbookoutsiders/CrashLanding-1-JamesOswald.mp3

I guess you could say it's a sort of 'cultural' 'Desert Island Discs', where the interviewee has an hour to choose a favourite book, film, TV Show and comic to save before..er...crash landing. I bring it up here as the first  guest is the author James Oswald who discusses among other things his love for 2000ad.

Hope you enjoy...

While not googling my own name (and not discovering that there are a load of Jake Lynch's out there, doing far better than me), I came across this thread...

Thank you for all your kind words, it is truly appreciated.

Pete -
I have always really enjoyed and been entertained by your blog and have regularly dipped into it for inspiration. I also feel I've let you down a little on my first cover. If I can make it up to you, drop me a line...

Welcome to the board / Re: Newbie Reporting in!

Welcome Earthlet, you've got some catching up to do!

It's standard to say start with the 'classics' (Cursed Earth, Block Mania, Apocalypse War, Judge Child Quest... The list goes on and on). However, I'm going to recommend getting your hands on the collected graphic novel 'Total War', should be easy to get hold off. If you use the 2000AD Ap it's but a click away! Soon you'll be thrilling to the dangers of Democracy, getting a glimpse of Dredd's bloodline and seeing how Justice Department operate in the Mega City.

Enjoy!

Splundig Vur Thrigg, Squax Dex Thargo... :D
