Title: PJ's Weekly Live Sketch Show
Post by: pauljholden on 17 May, 2020, 11:55:23 PM
Details at my blog: https://www.pauljholden.com/2020/05/17/pj-holdens-live-sketch-show/

The gist, Starting Saturday, I'll be doing Live Sketching from 9pm for around an hour. The sketches will be commissions, A5 pencil headshots for £30. If you'd like one just email me pjholden@gmail.com with the subject "Live Sketch: " then whatever it is you want in the subject. Payment on completion via paypal.

Why a5? Small enough to fit in envelopes that I can post through a letterbox. No need for the post office!

Plus £30 is a pretty reasonable price for a fun little sketch. And you get to watch me draw it live.

I can do about 7 per show, right now my list for Saturday IS EMPTY!

You can watch the pilot here: www.twitch.tv/pjholden

I'm largely booked up sketch slots for this saturday (from 9) on twitch.tv/pjholden

But if you're interested in tuning in you can watch me draw the following:

Morbius The Living Vampire
Pops (from my graphic novel with Garth Ennis, The Stringbags)
Dredd
-my choice dunno yet, an ABC warrior maybe?-
Domino
Dredd
Johnny Alpha

I'm a bit surprised there's not more love for this thread. I watched most of the recent show on Twitter, and it was great to see a 2000 AD artist at work. (PJ's Johnny Alpha is rather good!) Well worth checking out, whether or not you fancy grabbing a sketch of your own.

Watched a couple of bits of Twitch (which I only know as the boy child seems obsessed with some game called Tabs we don't even own as you can't get it on Switch!) and will defo be watching more if I can.

Right now, my list for this saturday is FULL!

Still I can take requests for NEXT Saturday...

I've found twitter views are massively more than twitch views, I suspect that's cus I have a large twitter following and almost no twitch following, so this saturday I'm gonna try and simulcast to both!

Intrigued to see what 'My Choice' will be. I take it with Twitch we can watch this on 'catch-up'?

Twitter has catch-up as well, IIRC.

YUp, if you go to twitch right now you'll see the most recent one.

Still figuring it out, but looks like I should be able to multistream, then I'll have to try and keep an eye on comments as the pop up! Looking forward to Saturday now!

Hey all!

Tonight from 9pm, live broadcasting sketches, watch me draw on twitch, facebook, youtube or twitter and you can comment, ask me questions and it'll be a fun old hour and a bit of chat. (Doesn't matter which platfrom you use, should still be able to see your comments!) Prices for sketches on the website, booked up for tonight, but next week there's a few slots open!

https://www.pauljholden.com/saturday-night-live-sketch-show/

Archives of the show will be on YOUTUBE - and twitch (though twitch deletes them after a certain amount of time)

But the fun will be be in being their and chatting! You can comment in any of the live venues, and I'll see all comments, and try and read and respond to as many as possible!

Tonight I'll be drawing:

Morbius, Pops (from The Stringbags), Dredd, Domino, Dredd, Johnny Alpha, and Roac son of Carc from the Hobbit

If it's a lot of fun and someone wants to ask me for a sketch during the show and there's time I'll try and get a commission or two done for anyone watching too.

Okay things have shifted around and our weekly Zoom Quiz shifted from its normal slot of Friday has now been cancelled so might be able to watch this live now, which will be pretty interesting - booked the telly and have my treat posh beer to go with it (again from cancelled Zoom Quiz). Hopefully see some of you folks in the comments...

That was great fun. And well worth checking out if folks didn't see it.

Have to say, thought the Batman was good, but that Johnny Alpha was something else again!

Will defo tune in next week - timings willing. If its 8pm think my daughter might watch IF we can book the time and other things willing.

Have to say dealing with all the gremlins and sliding camera arms, keeping cool and chaties and drawing up a storm was quite something.

Next Saturday Show will be 8pm, my bookings are full for that week, but the following week the show will move (for one day) to SUNDAY the 7th of June 8pm (it's my son's birthday on Saturday) and I've NO BOOKINGS, so if you've ever hankered after a Dredd(or any character headshot) sketch that's fairly cheap, £30 for A5... (£50 for inked)

Episode 2 (last night) sketches and video can all be found here: https://www.pauljholden.com/saturday-night-live-sketch-show/saturday-sketch-show-live-2-23-may-2020/

Details on episode 3 sketches can be found here: https://www.pauljholden.com/saturday-night-live-sketch-show/saturday-sketch-show-3-30th-may-2020/

Excellent stuff - I'll try to but the slot with daughter and wife - wonder if the boy child will be interested as well... though you not being Jamie Smart might be a barrier there...

Dredd vs Bunny vs Monkey crossover!

So a wee card envelope plopped through the letterboxed, and I was all: what is that? It was, fortunately, opened quite carefully, and out slid a PJ original Dredd head. It's now framed and on the office wall. Very happy.

Hey, just a reminder, episode 3 of my Saturday sketch show starts this Saturday at 8 - hopefully I've fixed the technical issues, so should be decent quality streaming with a camera mounted neatly above the drawing table. I might even put up a second camera so you can see my mug.

Episode 3 is booked out for sketches, they are (persons name and then the character they want):

Tom – Chimpsky (to be inked)
Tom (again) – Judge Fire (to be inked)
Eamonn – Chimpsky
Chris – Fink Angel or Judge Fear (will decide on the day! excitement!) fully inked!
Irene – Dreddpool
Irene (again) – Mini Mouse

(it's likely this might over run a little since I'm inking a fair number of these!)
---
So that's a fun mix, I know kids are watching, so if you're joining in no f-bombs, please :)

Episode 4 has about half the slots available if you'd like a sketch- it's gonna be on Sunday at 8pm (it's my youngest son's birthday on the Saturday)

Right now, the list looks like this:
Matthew - Death's Head
Michael - Masterchief (as I'm a dad, and this is for a kid, I might amusingly pretend I think he meant masterchef, we'll see how we go...)
Cathal - Yassa Povey.

Come join me and see how much of this I can draw in an hour!

Anyone else playing along? Its like Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Kitchen Disco... without the songs... or the guitar playing wookie... or the children... or Sophie Ellis-Bextor... but its still GREAT... oh and its not in a kitchen... I don't think...

Hey, for those of you fed up with my relentless plugging, great news! THIS SUNDAY FROM 8pm is the last live sketch show for a little while - the following week is father's day (so taking that off) and then July hits and I'll be all over, so no plans for a live show. Probably back on in August.

So that means... if you've been thinking about getting a sketch, now's the time. If you're after a father's day gift for yourself, this is your chance!

I normally take on about 6-8 commissions, which means the show lasts about an hour, but if demand is there, I'll keep drawing and chatting while I've got sketches to do.

I've just watched PJ draw Kid Knee for me - of course and want to say thanks.

He is indeed the right knee, whereas his son, in the S/D strip currently is a left knee.

Thanks again, looking forward to getting it in my hands!

Hey thanks for everyone who joined in, thanks Colin for sticking a reminder in here too.

Big double length show tonight, so got through a fair few sketches too.

Durham Red, a Triptych featuring: Dan Dare, Dredd, Toby (Halo Jones), Halo Jones – Kano, Dredd, B. Zane (from Numbercruncher), Mean Machine, Trapper Hag (my choice!) and Catwoman – packed double length show!

And you can see them all here:

https://www.pauljholden.com/live-sketch-show/sunday-night-live-sketch-show-14th-june/

That's the show now until, I think, August, hopefully you can join me then too!
