Freya Gillian Lovelace Carter was born this evening (Finlay's second birthday) at 2 minutes past 7 after 2 and a half hours of labour, just before the midwife arrived! She is 4 kilos (8 pounds, 13).

Emma's labour started at 4:30pm, about the time I left work - so we could both pick up Finn from nursery.

The midwife arrived 5 mins after the birth. The photo was taken by Emma's friend who arrived 5 minutes before the birth - her job was to look after Finlay.

The wet patch is from Emma's hand. She was in a birthing pool a little earlier.
