No hassle... the only thing is, we still have a wicker arm to fill, and animals aren't enough to appease the gods.
(For the record, most of us aren't actually pagans, but just love a good spectacle and party.)

We believe the gods prefer thieves, outlaws and other criminals, but if we run short, we do not hesitate to make up with innocent men.

On an unrelated note, Kerry's just a county away from Cork, if you fancy a nice bank holiday break...?

Sorry to hear that. New York Trilogy is one of those books that left me a bit puzzled but under no doubt that I'd just read a masterpiece.

Another is an autobiographical work that will stay lodged in my brain forever - the only thing I forget is the name but I think it was Hand to Mouth.

Zenith owes Paul Auater a debt, and so, now I think about it, does Grant's Animal Man.

I knew a Dug who was a bit of a moody and huffy bastard to work with too.

Good luck with the teeth, BB, there's no misery like dental pain.

I'll third that, though I take the burning a wicker man approach to May Day (which is exactly what I'll be doing as part of the Kerry celebrations this weekend).

I would have gone with Les Dennis doing his Mavis voice.

Yesterday I came across an article about Russell Brand, who apparently is being baptised in the Thames, for feck's sake.  Anyway it had occurred to me - what has become of the sexual assault allegations?   I'm genuinely wondering, not doubting their veracity, but the story has gone quiet recently.  Is there a trial coming up or anything?

Of course, another man found guilty of rape may well be the next US president, so maybe people just don't give as much of a shit about the victims these days.

I don't have it but a quick Google images search tells me that's definitely Raptaur.  What a great piece of artwork!  Patrick Goddard, if I'm not mistaken?

Quote from: Funt Solo on 30 April, 2024, 03:19:22 PMNice to see the Mills Bashing happening on the traditional Tuesday (or Týr's Day, as it was in Sláine's time*). These traditions are important.

I'm just grateful Patrick seems to have stop bashing the Bish-Op so often. It was exhausting.

I remember Tharg's Input answers got a bit serious when you took the reins but my grud, that's the message board's quote of the week right there.  Made me laugh out loud on the train, anyway.

Yep... he's been on the go a very long time now, and just keeps getting better.  He can do fully-painted very well too - remember Chopper in the very first Megazine run? - but I'd take his line work any day.

That Jim Murray cover is amazing, isn't it?  I think at the time I was biased against his work on Die Laughing, as it was meant to be Fabry and it wasn't.  Very unfair of me, though - I'd say his cover there is better than Bisley's on JoG.

Thanks for posting your review of Sláine - The Simon Davis in a Wig Chronicles too!  Really interesting stuff, and a reminder to me that it wasn't all just shouty anti-God propaganda.  I must do a re-read some time soon.

Thanks, lad, you too, and of course Hawkmumbler.

I'm ok today too - I've recently left my part-time teaching job as it was causing me a lot of anxiety due to problems with my students and with the school in general, and become fully self-employed in the commissioned mural business, which brings a fresh set of anxieties itself.  So I suppose these things build up and cause a bit of mental overload, but I'll get there.

Anyway glad the old rainy dog-walking made a difference - sometimes the simple things in life make a positive difference.

Quote from: Hawkmumbler on 28 April, 2024, 10:10:59 AMWell I'm having one of those melancholy days. Just one of those cases where something feels...off inside.
I'll keep myself busy and hopefully it'll go away, I could really do without spiralling again.

Besides the fact but I hope folks who've been having a rough patch lately are doing well.

I know the feeling - I've had a few myself of late.  More than a few, in fact.  Just trying to keep myself in check till things improve.
