Title: Martin & Wood's Tank Girl
Post by: Adrian Bamforth on 07 May, 2007, 03:34:46 PM
I can't remember the date but this is coming out soon I think. Wood is an unexpected choice of artist but looking at these samples I can detect something of the energy and humour of Hewlett's art:

I received a couple Tank Girl books from one of those "if you don't buy anything we'll send you the most expensive item" book clubs. Never read 'em though, looked kind of crude.

Should I pull those babies out of my book collection and give them a read?

The early Tank Girls were great

It went a bit up its own arse after a while in my opinion but when it was good it was great, really funny and beautifully drawn.

I'm looking forward to this new book

I think it was supposed to be out last Thursday, but my local's usually about a week late so I haven't checked yet.

I don't like that cover at all. Thinking about it, the best looking bits IMO are the 2 panels that look as though they were traced from earlier strips. I like what I've seen of Wood's work (not much, admittedly) but I don't think he's quite got her spirit right. Still, new Tanky is new Tanky and I'll give it a fair read before I do a proper review.

Thanks for the preview Adrian :) x

Perhaps convention-goers know this but Mike McMahon is apparently to draw 6 issues of Tank Girl. And the odd thing is I can actually imagine it! Fuck you Hewlett!
