Worst comic book you've ever read?

I reckon the worst ever comic I have EVER read has GOT to be Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis which was released to coincide with the EXCELLENT LucasArts videogame of the same name.

I tried to track it down for absolutely years - but when I finally managed to get a copy - I honestly thought it was the biggest piece of shit I've ever read.

What about you guys?

I generally don't slate any comics no matter how poor they are, even in the depths of shittery there's a little gem in my opinion!

However, having said that the only comic book that i've genuinely had to stop halfway through reading was Claremont's Dark Phoenix Saga. I know there's a lot of fans out there of said comic but it just bore me to bloody death. It's still sitting on my shelf gathering dust.

It's more that threads that start with this kind of negative premise, however interesting (and I have a long list of contenders for 'worst comic'!).,usually end up with nasty things being said about specific creators and Frank Miller, and then this amusing soon-forgotten pub chat between pals sits forever in public view on the internet for those creators and their loved ones to read and be upset by, and gossip sites to link to, making us all look like the dicks we secretly are.

I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with expressing opinions or thoughtful criticism, just that these 'worst' things tend to start off fun and end up... not.

Well, what we're suggesting is that focusing on the negatives of comics tends to end badly. Sooner or later there's an argument, often involving comic creators who have read comments about their work, and mods turn up swinging their daysticks. We've had a few threads like this over the years and it's never pretty.

No disrespect is meant to ChickenStu for starting the thread. Of course people can participate if they want, but I'm bowing out.

Or what he^^^^ said.  Apologies if this comes off as backseat modding, do what thou wilt.

I am offended by your attack on Frank Miller.

It's what he would have wanted.

Using the metric of 'how much joy this comic has generated in aggregate' Tarot 53 is possibly the best comic ever.  I've never even seen a copy (honest, dear) and it makes me smile whenever I hear its name.  Combining those who actually bought/pirated and enjoyed it for non-satirical reasons, plus Chris Sim's audience who have cried tears of mirth, and those who have merely enjoyed using the 'haunted vagina' (ahem) in nerdy conversation, it's a veritable treasure of the medium.
