If Chibnall is working up to a Gallifey IS in Ireland, I will be smashing my screen Ian Levine style!

Quote from: TordelBack on 25 January, 2020, 11:07:15 AMThat's impressive but allegedly th budget was $15 million per episode.
Learning today that the sumptuous Mandalorian locations were all achieved in a studio gives me hope that anything is possible.
Quote from: IndigoPrime on 24 January, 2020, 03:47:18 PMI guess but I thought they were going for a look closer to the comic.
Depends what they're going for. You can do a lot with sound-stages and greens-screen. But also, if you don't have high-profile stars and keep expectations realistic, you can do plenty with real-world sets. (See the Dredd movie, for which Garland repeatedly said the $45m budget was bullshit for marketing, and was in fact much lower. Urban claims $30m.)
Quote from: Tiplodocus on 11 December, 2019, 05:40:46 PMI don't. Alan Moore has used pre-existing characters plenty of times. He is a hypocrite & this show was great!
I still feel dirty for watching it though.
Quote from: IndigoPrime on 24 January, 2020, 12:46:15 PMI look at shows like The Mandalorian, the budget on that. Can Rebellion compete? If Mega City One is to be made it can't be on the cheap.
I don't see why not. TV shows and movies often spend years in pre-production. There's no reason this one would be any different.
Quote from: Hap Hazzard on 07 September, 2015, 11:39:12 PMYes. Imagine him finding himself in a younger body, forced to continue being a Judge & how he deals with that. Going on more & more dangerous assignments etcQuote from: Steve Green on 06 September, 2015, 02:08:06 PM
John's said a few things - he's talked about 70 being the new 50 in the future.
He's also said that by the time it needs to be addressed he'd be retired.
At the Dredd panel yesterday, he did talk about switching Dredds with a younger clone taking over and it being a challenge, but Dredd wouldn't be killed off as Rebellion wouldn't allow it.
I don't know if there's any option that would satisfy everyone.
I'd quite like a bumper prog with various Dredd writers and artists doing a 'Death of Judge Dredd' just for fun.
Brain transplants are a thing in the Mega City. A couple more disasters and there won't be enough Judges left to hold the city. A Justice Dept policy of forcing older experienced Judges to take new cloned younger bodies so they can continue to provide service to the city would be an interesting path to go down. Or, the use of seized stookie being authorised by Justice Dept. Basically, older Judges forced to carry on whether they wanted to or not...especially with Dredd's own misgivings about the system as it is. Plenty of scope there for drama.
