General / Scramble 2000 AD T-shirts

So here are the designs for the Scramble Dredd T-shirts. Look good to me, especially the Henry Flint one.

Looking at the photos I am guessing the quality is far superior to other 2000AD T-shirts, which IMO have been appalling quality and cut. (Always seem to come in two sizes: leotard or tent.)



I think the cost is fair for decent quality Ts.

Has anyone read any comics by Becky Cloonan?

I had never heard of her until last weekend when I popped in to Orbital Comics in London. They had a small exhibition of her original art. Stunning stuff.

Books & Comics / Turf by Jonathon Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards

Anybody bought Turf? I picked it up this weekend and have only read a few pages. Intriguing stuff so far and I rate the art. Very text heavy so some of the panels seem quite busy. There will be variant covers by Jim Steranko and Duncan Fegredo. I heard of this from this weekend's Guardian magazine in which Jonathon Ross was flying the flag for the cause of comics.

Don't know if this has been mentioned round these parts (apologies if it has) but I recently came across the Comic Vine website. Worth checking it out I reckon.

Interesting to see the covers of the Eagle, 'Quality' and Fleetway 2000AD reprints for the US market which I don't see on Barney. (I say nick their images Wake as it seems that they have nicked Barney's.)

I think the first Eagle Comics versions were excellent with brilliant original covers by 2000AD greats. The cover designs, while nothing groundbreaking were solid and well considered. I have all of them I think.

Then the comics moved to Quality Comics and Fleetway and I think it is fair to say that things went downhill to say the least. Some very, very ropey front covers there. I gave up after the Eagle Comics period. The Quality Comics have to be some of the most poorly produced comics ever. I remember the bad quality printing and stretched internal artwork. Criminal.

The Nemesis reprints were a treat as Kevin O'neill added frames to the internal artwork for the taller format of the reprints. And his covers were outstanding.
