Terrible news Jared my condolences.

Once again Supersurfer you amaze that's fantastic. This happens to also be based on one of my favourite 2000ad pictures of all time, one in fact I use as the desktop on my phone.

Books & Comics / Re: Is Grant Morrison overrated?

Well bugger me overrated or not Grant Morrison is 50th today. Not sure quite why that's surprising me as much as it does but it does.

Happy Birthday Mr Morrison.

I also don't really get Batwoman's (is this Babs back on two feet?) involvement, but that is probably due to having had to abandon the enjoyable Darkest Night for financial reasons.

Its not Babs - though she is coming back in a new series of Birds of Prey apparently by Gail Simone (yes yes yes) but some new lass the details of which escape me but I have read. Apparently her new material in Detective Comics is brillant and I may pick up at a latter date.

As for her appearence here I was totally baffled but assumed that'll be picked up in the next couple of issues?

Wow, wow, wow.

Quietly praising other people's art and then dropping an bombshell like that beauty in!

Nice one.

Fun stuff again.

Relating to Burns ladies for me there's a perfect example of the contrast between what he does and what many artists do in the lastest issue (1670). Clint Langley draws a lass chatting away and she's 'perfectly' rendered and all and I'd guess (and this is a bit of a wild guess) that there's a real lady photoshopped in there somewhere or something and well it just looks completely cold and plastic to me. She looks like some Exquisitely crafted blown-up doll. She has none of the life and character of Burns' ladeeees.

The idea of veiwing 2000ad creater's none 2000ad stuff is a great one. Its a shame 'Last American' isn't readily available as that a bit of a classic.

Not seen any talk of issue 7 yet and as I read it this weekend figured this is as good a place as any to once again gush in an unoriginal style about how brillant it is. I'm delighted to see Cameron Stewart take over the art after the slightly disappointing Tan and what a fun, packed issue he and Morrison put out - even if it has one heck of a speech balloon clanger in it.

brillant brillant stuff.

Books & Comics / Re: Happy Valley
31 January, 2010, 02:53:04 PM
Got and read the second part of Happy Valley yesterday and I'm loving it. The art was once again great. My only concern, which may be utterly unfounded, is were it's going. While I'm loving the writing I'm not sure were one more part can take it? At the moment the only way it seems to be heading is a tragic last mission which in many ways has been done before. Mind I guess I should have a little more faith in Mr Ennis who may well craft something a little different and even if it does got that wayt its been beautifully done.

Spinning off from this a little bit does anybody remember the little advertisment strips that used appear in comics adapting movies. They had more than 6 panels in total but this put me in  mind of them. I seem to remember that the film 'Roars' adaptation was done by Steve Dillon????

Welcome to the board / Re: New guy saying hello

Nice to hear from you Gert1033.

As someone else, somewhere, heavens alone knows where, commented there seem to be few American new comers of late. Potentially this is great news and if its not just a coincidence might be a sign of something going right over there????
