Wulf is the absolute best.

Got to be Mek-Quake. He's just the right side of farce, which makes him often hilarious. Mek-Quake's recycling episode was a high point in a very poor ABC Warriors run for me. He's also been consistent in his chsaracter throughout his appearances, unlike Mongrol, Joe, Hammerstein etc.

As a younger reader I really liked the visual design of both Hitaki and Mad Ronn, I remember being disappointed at their quick ends, especially the latter.

Spot on analysis there Corinthian and very well put.
Generally I've enjoyed The Order and I hope the next time we see it this is addressed.

Dash Decent
It's.. decent.
I'd forgotten I'd even read Zombie Army however, until I looked it up.

Whilst waiting to start Island of the Lizard King I've been playing Nightshift (not Nightshirt) as recommended by SBT upthread. It's quite a different experience to FF and a lot trickier - I like the emphasis on puzzles rather than combat / shopping lists of items, and it's an atmospheric experience. It is bloody hard though. I've been getting lost a lot, so I've ended up downloading the map from the authors website and I'm going to start using that to take notes.

I'm excited to get onto IotLK though as it's another one I could actually complete as a kid - I think it's fairly linear and whilst you need some items to win it, they make the final fight easier rather than kill you outright if you don't have them. I may be misremembering.
One thing I'm not misremembering is the Lizard King himself looking badass on the cover looking what can best be described as 'thicc' in the interior art..

I second the recommendation for Bissler's SD videos, they're a cool watch.
Definitely don't worry about having unpainted models. Just give the game a go and have some fun with it!

Excellent point about the polemic in Defoe being a lot more in character than in Pat's other latter day stuff. Perhaps that's why it seemed less jarring.
It really is great stuff, overflowing with ideas and characters and really atmospheric. I'm getting a big rush of enthusiasm just thinking about it now.

Easily Defoe. Lost it's way at the end (losing Leigh Gallagher didn't help) but genuinely loved it at the start.
Bradley I've re-read fairly recently and crazy art aside it is really really bad.

Other Reviews / Re: Covers Uncovered Annual 2021

This is sad news: Covers Uncovered was one of my favourite things I bought from the Webshop last year and I was hoping it would continue, but this decision makes sense if sales were bad.
Bogus!

I asked Mrs. Boots for her opinion on this, as an actual woman. Her top three were Bridget Kurtis, Galen DeMarco and Wrath from Feral and Foe.

I was also going to suggest Pettifer. She's a great character and definitely a strong female character, just not in the 'lady with a big gun' way.
However if I'm voting on my favourite then I'm going for (in no particular order):

-  Jenna Makarov
-  Atalia Jaegir
-  Judge McGruder

Tricky one to choose and I nearly went for Cinnabar but Cradlegrave is a masterwork of horror.

The Returners for me please.

Wolfie Smith for me too. Purgatory does look great, but script-and-plot wise it is seriously terrible. Absolutely abysmal on every level.

Nothing bugs me more than slow, wistful acoustic versions of classic rock tracks, usually accompanying supermarket Christmas ads

Definitely this. Take a classic song, slow it down and get someone to sing it in a dreamy, little girl voice, divesting it of any power, meaning or good quality it previously had. It enrages me.

Like Sharky and Pops* I don't really watch TV but even I know about that Daisy one and how awful it is. I really hate toothpaste adverts where a model licks their own teeth - this just grosses me out and nobody really does it in real life.

* This sounds like a detective combo
