It's true, the letter writing prizes for the Megazine are real! I recieved a nice Robo-Hunter Day Of the Droids GN today and am most grateful for it. The letter enclosed was signed by Tharg, who clearly has a puppet editor in place to fill the editor's letter column only!

Nice to be acknowledged and hopefully more will be encouraged to write even if it is for mercenary reasons only.

Cracking Meg for me.

The standout was the small press feature which gave glowing tribute to all the back street comic creators out there. A few familiar faces offer their words of wisdom, most of which appear to be that it's a quick way to lose all your cash!

Nice to have the letters page back too and now with added prizes!

The Alec Trench piece was a bit strange and doubtlessly totally inaccessable to all but the long termers, but as a bit of fun it was OK.

The Dredd was a weak link for me, with this weeks episode basically a big bun fight. Hopefully concluding this time next month!

Don't like the cover. It's hard to see who is doing what to whom. The top of the drawing looks like a big mallet is hitting the robot when it's really the joint of it's arm. The other arm looks like a vase on my auntie Marge's sideboard. Messy and indistinct. A miss!

This was extensively covered in Viz's 'Borderline Boilers' chart which is for women you like for reasons you can't explain or would even admit to. High placings for Vorderman, Dimmock, McKevitt and that tubby one off Loctaion,Location,Location.

Good call Trout, see you all at Blackridge services, by Shotts on the M8. I understand the beer and everything else for that matter is reassuringly expensive.

"Buttonman - ? (I'll guess Edinbru , again I'm no doubt wrong) "

You are indeed wrong - I'm Stephen Watson, Paisley of letters page fame!

Auctioneers in Glasgow would suit me better (if the titty bar has definitely been discounted). Not sure if I want to commit though as my only experience of Fandom was at a Star Trek convention on 17/07/1993 (still have the programme!) and that's something that took therapy to get over!

What is the protocol? Do we recognize each other by a secret sign or will it be sadly obvious at which table the fanboys lurk?!

Will I be the party poop who points out that the Burke & Hare is a titty pub and part of Edinburgh's notorious 'Pubic Triangle'?

I'm no a prude but I did splutter in my pint when local bottom feeders handed their pints to the now nude dancing lady so she could dip her, er, ladies area in the beer for (I imagine) flavour enhancement.

The ladies are the rough side of heroin chic and somewhat abrasive to those not constantly having a private grind.

In short if it's there I'm in.

Dogs was just a bit part - see him shine as cowboy hat wearing kickboxer Travis in the Best Of The Best series.  He also had a small turn in one of my favourites 'The Music of Chance'.

Seemed to do a lot of straight to video stuff with 'Starsky & Hutch' his only recent mainstream hit, and that was a blink and miss it cameo.

So long Travis may all your roundhouse kicks in heaven be swing door smashing.

Thought I'd necropost this thread as it's a cracking site for recycling your reading trash. Two gone within the hour! Sue Grafton gone and the Stainless Steel rat in. Couple of Dredds and A History of Violence available too, although not from me.

I work in an insurance office and we once had a Mandan Singh at the counter. We had to tell him to stop as we didn't have a music licence.

Also met a poor child of the 60's called Roc Starrs, but my favourite was the man whose dog pissed on his video, Watson Horseley. Not a pun but a great name.

Film & TV / Ghost Rider - Better Than You've Heard!

Necro-thread giiven our hero's undead origins..

Spoilers Follow Greyed out if it works!

Saw this today and have to say I really enjoyed it. Obviously it's a load of tosh and CGI but at least it looked good and was a lot of fun. And that's just Eva Mendes' cleavage. I thank you.

I've never really read Ghost Rider but this seemed pretty close to what a comic book movie should be - no great depth just a load of action and a few knowing nods. None of the X-mens' tiresome soul searching here just a lot of tearing up the streets.

Peter Fonda as the devil was OK but it's a pretty low rent devil who gets told off by his creation and stomps off in the huff. . The main baddie is the devil's son, Blackheart and his three henchmen who embody earth, wind and water in the form of weedy powers.

The ending where the power of the devil's victims cause his demise was the same as Judge Death Lives .

Great fun, but don't scrape the surface - there's nothing there. Nor should there be.
