tried that - it justs posts a (non-functional) link //http://www.2000adonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=22198&p=396048#p396048

The direct link option seemed a better bet, and seemed to be working up to the point it told me that i could only have 700 pixel width. Now i need to find out how to convert a hi-res image to something with fewer pixels.

but not tonight. I hate technologyy sometimes. I'm too old to keep learning new shit!

seems rather petty and stooping to their level - who was it said "don't wrestle with pigs, 'cos you'll both get covered in mud, but they'll like it". I just don't look at the comments section and they don't bother me at all. Easy and apparently much less stressful!

I may be old fashioned, but I don't really feel the need to join the "community" of some global monster like youtube - I see it as an entertainment resource, pure and simple. Unsurprisingly, I'm not on facespace or mybook either! I'm a member of several small forums such as this one under different usernames, and that's enough for me! What is this need to solicit uninformed opinions on everything? I think this sums it up;

Film & TV / Re: Another pointless remake......
14 August, 2008, 07:19:20 PM
I was discussing pointless hollywood remakes recently and we came up with a top 3 - it was only later that we realised the originals were all Michael Caine films (Get Carter with Sly Stallone, Jude Law's Alfie, and Marky freakin Mark in the Italian Job) How odd is that? What is it about MC's iconic films that lend themselves to mind-bogglingly shitty remakes?

All this new technology is confusing me today! Can anyone explain the different ways of posting images in messages?

The FAQ's say
QuoteCan I post images?
Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board.

How can we tell if attachments are allowed? Several threads display images, eg the monthly art comps. If these images have all been placed online, rather than copy'n'pasted into the actual reply (which i've tried!), then what sort of websites are they uploaded to? How do they display without all the rest of the website's gubbins showing (I have photos on Flickr - if I posted a link, would it display my pic only or just link to the flickr website?)

Apologies if I'm being truly dim or if this has been asked and answered before - I've tried a search but couldn't find anything useful.

Basically I need Image Posting for Dummies!

I've tried copy and paste, doesn't seem to work.

If I don't have a URL for my picture, ie if it isn't online but just stored in the 'my pictures' folder, is there any way to upload it? Others on this thread seem to have done so (or does a link automatically display as a picture? Forgive my ignorance of this sort of stuff!) I have some pics on Flickr, so if no-one can help me paste an image straight in (like Proudhuff's mighty effort) I'll have to upload them there.

QuoteDone Dredd and Dragons.. heh. ahem. I jus' like drawing dragons and Dredd.

And what's wrong with that? As far as a Dredd-and-Dragons pic goes, it's a pretty damn good one! Shame it may get disqualified for relevance to the brief. Maybe it could be adapted as a prog-style rip-off of Primeval? Just add a title, a fit chick in pants and a couple of mockney t*@ts and you're sorted!

okay....some random recollections of Rogue Trooper:

It was a classic story that outstayed it's welcome, in my opinion. It blew me away when it first appeared, and I'm proud to wear last year's subs Rogue T-shirt often. The original story arc - the hunt for the traitor general - was an epic revenge tale. The bio-chips and the concept of a totally toxic war-planet were radical and intriguing ideas and the art by gerry Finley-Day was clean and expressive, especially all the weird and wonderful hardware of future war. The stories felt like spaghetti westerns or WWII epics (the occasions when it attempted comedy, eg Fort Neuropa were definitely less successful!).

This quest was drawn out for long enough, but had to eventually come to a conclusion. After this, the story never really regained it's impetus or interest. Rogue's 'raison d'etre' began to feel more and more contrived. The storyline of Rogue as some kind of inter-galactic super-assassin was just nonsense (but featured some good pre-Preacher art by Steve Dillon).

After that various artists tried to re-launch Rogue, or to re-invent him completely as Friday. To me, this just felt like all these current Hollywood remakes of perfectly good films - pointless pale imitations of the original. I'm racking my brains here and I can't actually recall the plots of any of those stories. I remember some good artwork along the way, and a few good Venus Bluegenes spin-offs, but overall, not impressed.

As for Tor Cyan , well at first, It amused me that this character in Mercy heights (or was it the other ER in space rip off?) had been so obviously drawn as a GI but nobody seemed inclined to mention it!. Then, sigh, the inevitable backstory / linkup / flogging of dead horse ensued and I lost interest again.

Perhaps my fondest memory of RT however was the board game. Me and my best mate at school were into wargames and D&D and must have played this game hundreds of times (along with the original Dredd boardgame). It was a well designed combat game that really captured the mood of the comics, and I'm just off to e-bay to see if there's any about.......
