I've loved them all, but surely Vol 2 must be the best? Even little things (like how Serpentine Park came to be renamed) show absolute genius.
And agree that Black dossier was a bit of a slog to get through, but.. wow.. how well can Alan Moore capture the essence of the styles he writes in (The Shakespeare bit, the postcards, the "Crazy Wide Forever"?)

If I remember rightly (sorry - hate using abbreviations), most of 2000ad's "classic" characters (Stront, Rogue, Dredd, Slaine, Halo Jones etc) don't start with an origin story - they tended to start with a fairly typical case for them, and the backstory would be fleshed out later on, after the strip seemed to be proving a hit.
I reckon this is the way to go for any films produced on the characters.
That said, I always though "Portrait of a mutant" would work so well as a tv mini series, if there still is such a thing....

Prog / Re: Prog 1695 : The Hunger.

Just picked up the last 2 weeks' Progs, (1694 & 95), and for once, am pleasantly suprised to be entertained by Sinister Dexter, rather than Stront or Dredd. TBH, I've always thought this strip was complete tripe, but in common with the rest of the prog, I read it every week and try and reserve judgement until the story's over.

So the young lady's reply about being told she's "Good enough to eat off", was, I reckon, a delight. I'm sorry if this has been discussed already - I seem to get my prog about a week later than everyone one here!

Ps - am I REALLY the only one who hopes that Johnny Alpha is resurrected? Surely he's the only comic hero that it would actually make kind of sense to do this with? I always thought his death was a bit pointless, intended for shock value, really, and I didn't really 'count'it as real as it hadn't been drawn by Carlos.

Cheers, everybody!
I'm off to pick the last two weeks progs from the comic shop, and just for Radbacker, I shall attempt to Rock as much as possible while doing so.

I think, at this point, I may need to clarify that I'm not really a doctor, although I could be persuaded to act as gynacologyst should the right lady ask.

OOh, what about Inferno? I remember thinking as I read that that Carlos' colour work had really come into its own.

Couldn't find cake, so I got you a kebab and a copy of Razzle.

My Avatar! Although I reckon all of "portrait of a mutant" is just legendary. In fact, I once pulled an artist after showing her that.

Hello!
This is my first post. I've been a lurker for AGES, but everyone else seems to get their prog about a week ahead of me, so for some reason that stopped me ever joining, although I kept lurking which still spoilt things, so...

I'll stop talking right there.

Anyway, in a further oxymoron I just saw the Peach Tress script, and am frankly over the moon. That's how it should be done, I reckon.

I actually forget what it was I meaning to say. Oh well. I'm out of fags, so I'm gonna nip to the garage. Anyone want owt?
