german jack boots ? they ARE evil.

many years ago i couldnt afford footware, i found a shop that sold plimsols for 50p, i'd buy a pair of these a year & wear them til sole-less...then i got rich & found some german jack boots in an army surplus shop somewhere, they were ?5, a funking fortune to me then, WOO HOO ! i figured they'd last for years ...

( i hope youre all doing the violin accompanyment here )

they were really ridgid & 3 sizes too big, when i wore them i felt i became Peiter Kuper ( previous owner ) & i goose stepped about with great nazi-istic prowess... i had no wellies, so i wore my german jack boots for a couple of tree planting contracts, slotching around snowy mountains in ill fitting boots with a spade & 300 trees on my back... 9 000 trees & an incident with a heavy stubborn horse later...

my feet collapsed, & my arches died, there i was in my twenties, crippled with a walking stick. Luckily due to the miracle of the NHS, i was only on a waiting list for 2 years, & can now walk with only mild permenant pain & hassal.

the moral of this long & woeful tale my friends is; Nazi jack boots are EVIL, and lavishing stupid money on stupid boots ( that fit) is a good long term investment.

do i win the prize ?

House of Usher

Bou, I was really touched by your story of haunted footwear - imagine, actually being possessed by the spirit of Peiter Kuper! It's like a 1970s comic book! Sort of like a jackboots version of Billy's Boots.

Hopefully they were something like 1960s issue, but evil nevertheless if they did that to your poor arches.

I used to own a German army jacket, as worn in that film The Cassandra Crossing. It was warm, and very handy for a year or two, but I got tired of it, and sold it on (all the other goths were wearing army overcoats).
STRIKE !!!

WoD

I've borrowed some UK Army Service boots for a fancy dress thing a few years ago (Demon-Hell-Soldier Hybrid thing) and they were VERY comfortable..light as well...

House of Usher

I paid a fair amount for a pair of 'German paratrooper boots' that were in vogue in the '90s. They lasted very well, but eventually became uncomfortable for some reason. Not evil, though.

Nowadays I'm clomping around in an assortment of goth boots, vegetarian bovver boots, trainers and carpet slippers. Nothing evil there.
STRIKE !!!

Thread Zero

Damnit, it's 'footwear'! Unless you're talking about something that changes into feet during the full moon...

I've got a pair of size-15 Doc Martin workboots (with steel toecaps).  However, despite being among the Biggest Boots Ever, they're still too small to fit my size-16 feet into comfortably...

House of Usher

changes into feet during the full moon...

No, that'd be foot-were.

Steel toe-caps are all very well, but mine set off the metal detectors at Cardiff and Edinburgh airport security on a business trip, and I got frisked quite ungently twice in one day. Maybe my vegetarian boots are evil after all.
STRIKE !!!

Tanky

I used to have a pair o those new rocks (before they got popular, i might add --;b)
The biggest problem with them is that the flames tend to fall off after 2 months, which is fecking crap for 100smackers, as they were back in the day. By contrast, I've had a pair of converse with flames on for 3 years, and they're still going strong...

Queen Firey-Bou

converse ? pray tell what are these ? ( & lets hijack a thread & talk about shoe shopping )... i need high stillettos with flames & sci-fi heels & i need them now....

Slippery PD

Converse?!?

Probably look like these
