Suggestions / COVID Face Masks
« on: 22 July, 2020, 10:53:16 AM »
Is it wrong of me to want an official face mask?

Or a full set?

Plain black, fitted mask, with a small judge shield, or full bleed artwork of Judge Fear’s grill? Or just the 2000ad swoosh?

Or am I missing something from the shop?

Haha, just saw this Jim Sterling video and had to mention it.

I present to you: JYDGE!

The game doesn't look that bad to be fair, it's just the fact they thought no-one would notice the concept was a blatant rip-off, just because they've replaced all the vowels with Y!

Whyt y bynch yf twyts.

Awe, you beat me too it. Someone is filing serial numbers off like there's no tomorrow!

It’s also being promoted as app of the day on the iOS App Store.

I’ve had an idea stuck in my head for the past week, and I can’t get over how I can’t seem to find a flaw!!

Anyone here play the FFG living card game for Lord of The Rings?

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/the-lord-of-the-rings-the-card-game/

I’m a big fan of the theme, but the idea is that two to four players, play co-operatively against the deck. It’s seriouslt well themed, some of the sets follow very closely to the books, others are set in the general universe.

Anyway, I got to thinking how well Dredd would translate to the game. The artwork, and the thought that each box could be set in a ‘year’ in Mega City and that the bonus decks could explore all the minor characters, the Apes, the Gangs, the Angel gang, the Dark Judges.

The other thing to keep in mind, I’ve spent nearly £600 and I’m only about half way through the sets!

Condolences to Logan's family and friends.

I met him only once and saw him in passing at a few conventions, but knew him mostly from the early days of this forum.

News / FUTURE SHOCK! 2000AD Documentary announced
« on: 11 December, 2015, 10:14:06 AM »
As a life long fan, I loved the doc.

But I wanted to record my wife's response. She's not a comic fan, she's read a few to keep me happy over the years, but for her, what was made clear by the documentary was the punk sensibilities of the artists involved - as a punk singer herself in '77, and a minor footnote it that safety pinned era, she was reinvigorated by what is still a kick against the pricks 38 years later.

So inspired by the show, she's decided to take on a PhD in culture and media.

It's impressive what non-fans can get out of things you dote over.

Me too. It's a great little independent which over the last few years,  has gone from strength to strength and I would think it's on the cusp of becoming Brixton-Ritzy-esque,

But at £4.99 a ticket, all day, every day, it's a cinema you could spend all day at for the price of a single ticket in Leicester Square.

Superbob.

We may not get a sequel to Dredd, but we can all go out and support another British super hero film.

Just been to see this, at Peckhamplex, my local, and I understand opening weekend attracted almost 150 people!

Shame on you peckhamites - shame.

Funny film, that passed the six laugh test, Brett Goldstein is superb as Bob, a postie turned super hero following a meteor strike on Peckham Rye. Very British humour, very well shot in Peckham and the surrounding area, and worth a trip to the cinema.

I'm up to prog 1234 on my slog.

There was an awful lull from around 750 onwards, but I pulled through.

I started off trying to read it all in order, but after the dune shark Dredd crossover, I've taken to reading a year of the prog and a year of the Meg.

There was a reference to Judge Dredd on Radio 4 this week.
Simon Evans Goes To Market - episode 2 refers to the security guards at the BBC being "slightly to the right of Judge Dredd"

Good old Beeb.

And much appreciated. I'll make a promise now that I'll pass this favour on as soon as I can.

Some personal info - I've been a reader since Prog 1 - I know exactly where my free space spinner is - in some farmers field in Co. Waterford, I tried to move away from 2k with Tornado, and Starlord but something (comics merger) always brought me back - I donated a large lump of my collection in the 1990's - it was Big Dave's fault - and stopped reading altogether for eight years around the start of this century, shortly after joining this community (I must have the lowest post frequency of anyone .04 a day?)
I came back once I realised how much I'd missed Joe, and will be back again.

Thanks Z.

For the second time in my life, I'm forced to cancel my subscription to 2000AD.

And which Thrillsucker is to blame? Why it's the Age Of Austerity thrill sucker himself - lots of changes at home, my wife has taken redundancy from work and we've been tightening our belts anticipating a downturn in the family finances.

Last time I had to do this was in the rub up to our wedding - and I was out of the loop for about eight years. I doubt we'll be that poor that we can't find some money for Thrillpower but for the moment, I'm having to bow out.

If I could just ask you to keep your sense of fun and enjoyment of future progs a little subdued for the next six months is appreciate that.

See you soon

Dom.

Nice. The app seems to work a little faster than the newsstand edition, downloads are faster and page turns seem to load quicker too.

I queued for ages for an autograph from Mr Ranson - more really to ask a question about the mazes in Mazeworld - some project or other I was working on in Uni - expecting him to have laboured long over the development of each maze - maybe it was the end of the day, but I was disappointed to hear that he used a reference book and didn't slave over creating each and every one!

Do you know how disappointed I was? I turned down an Anderson sketch for just an autograph on the cover.

An aged Ford does not mean that he isn't a replicant with the four year kill switch turned off.
