Excellent choice. I approve.

With only two days to go here is a few more selections from my referendum playlist -

The Human League - http://youtu.be/uPudE8nDog0

Aswad - http://youtu.be/eVVu0QUkQG4

The Communards - http://youtu.be/ifAtvI48R_0

Belinda Carlisle - http://youtu.be/FGa0xPzKLMo

Such fun... does it show how much I am bored of the whole bloody thing? Normal service will resume shortly.
Whatever happened to Rico, Dolman and Cadet Paris? I'm sooo out of the loop.

PsychoGoatee

Cauldron and Battle Beast are a couple metal bands I've been digging lately!

Queen - Live at the Rainbow, '74.  Bloody brilliant!!

I much prefer their earlier stuff - everything after News of the World got a but dry and uninspiring for me.  This live album shows them just prior to A Night at the Opera, and there's no denying this is a band on the up!  Fantastic performances from all concerned - even the bloody drum solo is great to listen to!

Please, pray do tell... is there a decent live version of Ogre Battle on that?

BecauseI LOVE that song. But so many of the live performances of it were a bit naff.

I've decided to stop trying to find new stuff and started devoting my listening time to some classics; Cardiacs, Melt Banana and Gauze. All have exceptional discogs that are timeless.

Currently sat in work, switching between Royal Bloods album, Muses 2nd law and some old, old, Chili Peppers (Mothers Milk). It makes being here almost passable!

Mostly listening to podcasts right now. My work gave me a 'work phone' which is an iPhone so I'm pretty much just taking advantage of that and catching up on all the stuff I've missed since not owning an iPhone, haha.

I can confirm Ogre Battle is on it, and is an absolutely astounding version.

In fact, the entire album (Live at the Rainbow) has leapt into my top five live albums of all time, just under Live After Death by Iron Maiden (no 1) and Live and Dangerous by thin Lizzy (no 2).  It has pushed Dweezil Zappa's 'Return of the Son Of...' to no. 4, Deep Purple's Made in Japan to No. 5, and Portishead's Live in NYC to no. 6.

Seriously, any Queen fan needs to get this album.  I am astonished it has not been released previously, as it is a bloody masterpiece.

Yeah reckon I will defo check that out. Early Queen is really good... unlike A LOT of later Queen and having checked the track listing (thanks for the head up) that album is defo worth a nosey...

HdE

I'm actually pretty kindly disposed to a lot of Queen's later work. Some stuff, like Under Pressure and I Want To Break Free, I just can't stick. But I've been listening to The Game just recently, and that's a surprisingly addictive album. That in turn led me to dig out Hot Space, and on listening back, I'm surprised to find that I don't hate it.

It really shows on some of those tracks how influenced by The Beatles those guys were.

Yeah, love it!

Really?  I owned it as a kid, listened to it maybe three times and then never went back to it.  Maybe I should give it another try...
