CAN YOU BE AN AMBASSADOR FOR 2000AD?

Yeah, I agree Bolt - this is the kind of thread that keeps me on this board.

For the sake of it I'll say my tuppence; if you can't really be arsed building up a criticism (good or bad), don't sidestep it but at least make it a sentence and be aware of how it reads in a thread. I also think fans do have a right to voice their opinion without being afraid of the possible reaction of the publisher or creator, but they shouldn't be surprised if they get a drubbing by other forum members.

To tell the truth, you can all get screwed.

I'm all for bigging up 2000 AD whenever the chance arises on a forum where I already have an account (barely active or not) like CBR or Marvelmasterworks, but yeah, it would look suspicious if suddenly a bunch of us with a post count of "1" all showed up at Newsarama to add to that thread.  Maybe I have a Newsarama account?

One thing I do, apart from the twice-monthly graphic novel reviews, is always try to respond to the Comics Reporter's Five for Friday feature and have at least one 2000 AD-related response.  It doesn't always work (and I'm not always in Friday evenings!) but I like trying.  He always links my comics reviews (Journalista does not, sadly) and so that brings a few eyes our way.

Does anybody actually know any of these comics web journalists?  Comics Alliance was mentioned earlier - if Laura Hudson, say, could run an interview with Alan Davis on the back of the US D.R. & Quinch and Harry 20 collections, that would be great.  I'd love to see more features, but I'd also like to see more of us popping up in the comment threads whenever they do appear, thanking them for the feature and asking them for more.

(Actually, what the heck ever happened to Forbidden Planet's promised interview with Pat Mills?  They solicited questions from the public, but I don't think it ever happened.)

I did my ambassadory bit and did this  http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/showthread.php?6062-The-Sunday-Morning-2000AD-Plinth  ....talked about nothing more than 2000ad for a whole hour...TO THE WORLD!!!!! (and I think they listened)

Just find opportunities to tell people how good it's been for you when you can. You are not saying it's been 100% perfect forever but just how good you think it is...

Peace

I'd totally forgotten about this brilliant bit of publicity!

There are few other champions I'd forgotten too Colsmi, Paul Rainey,
David Page.

I wasn't planning on trying to create an exhaustive list, but it seems like that might not be a bad idea anyway. I know we have a Links thread, but how about a dedicated Thrill-powered Linkage thread to pop any webpages, news items, new sites etc. into?

On facebook, I'm sure I've seen one of the original adverts from '77 as well... stuff like that could be nice to have all in one single (stickied?) thread as well.

Hopefully 'The Beak' will get a copy and we'll all be up for six of the best

Another example of things that people can do: most of the big comic communities have threads on 2000AD so why not drop in and say "hi" or answer any questions someone might have or remind everyone when a jumping on issue is coming round.
See for example:

http://www.bleedingcool.com/forums/showthread.php?230-2000-ad
http://freakangels.com/whitechapel/comments.php?DiscussionID=8776

And one at CHUD:

if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
