...that the bloke who "fixed" our PC is a total c*nt. Yes a c*nt of the highest order and I shall tell you why as you gasp in disbelief at a tale so terrible you'll pray it's not true. Unfortunately it is though.
A while back Mrs karne and myself had to replace our motherboard and decided to go for a more expensive one. Mr C*nt said he could get hold of one and fit it for us for around eighty quid, but when he fitted it, it went to sh*t in a second. He said he could replace it for a better one, but at an extra cost of thirty-five quid.
After Mr C*nt had replaced our motherboard we started having problems with our graphics card so he said he could get hold of another one for us and fit it for twenty-five quid. Our modem recently started playing up, so we had another bloke, who wasn't a c*nt look at it. Can you guess what he found?
I'll tell you what he found, a thirty f*cking quid motherboard with an onboard graphics card. Yep that's right, Mr C*nt charged us a hundred and fifteen quid for a thirty quid motherboard and an extra twenty-five quid for a graphics card we already had built in.
Now knowing the law, we can't actually name him or mention the high position he holds or where he works (oh yes, we're not talking back street here, moonlighting yes, but back street no). We can't even take legal action because he never gave us receipts, so I guess the moral of the story is as usual "tool-up and take it to em!"
As you may have guessed, Mrs karne and myself will have to continue with the meagre appearances until we can either get the modem fixed, a proper upgrade or a total build, it all depends on the diagnosis. Also, I'm currently posting from my little sisters house and am unable to access my e-mail for some reason, so if anyone needs to contact us urgently, just leave a message on the board until further notice.

Can I take it everyone here is familiar with the saying regarding mountains and molehills? Well it seems things have got a little bit out of hand here over something very trivial doesn't it?
I'll admit to being surprised by the negativity regarding the BB threads, a fair amount of it based on the fact that people don't like the programme. This is bizarre considering the whole idea stemmed from my own hatred of the show and was supposed to send up the format and not in any way advocate it. It is similar to the TV show in one particular way though, if you don't want to look no ones forcing you.
It's intended as a bit of fun for those who want to join in. You're not under any obligation to play or even acknowledge the threads if you don't want to, but how about laying off those who do want to participate?
I tend to read the majority of threads myself regardless of content, purely because I like a bit of variety. Having come from a strict Irish Catholic background, in which I quite literally had the faith beaten into me, the recent religious debate on the "ABC Warriors – make up my mind for me" thread was one of the highlights of this week for me. I don't imagine this was of interest to everyone out there, but because it was "On Topic" in relation to Pat Mills recent ABC storyline does it mean we are all duty bound to read or at least acknowledge it?
We've been here so many times before with the argument about "Off Topic" posts, and yet they still seem to be popular. All they are is a handful of posts out of around 130 odd. They don't, as some people think, take up the majority of the board and I'm sure those of you with an obsession to detail will quite happily produce the statistics to back this up. I make it about 5% on the BB posts.
If we constantly kept to "On Topic" subjects how long do you think it would be before the conversation dried up? A quick glance at some of the smaller threads will give you an idea. One of the best examples for this was the Pat Mills (again) thread that ran for so long because it somehow managed to mutate into a debate on breakfast cereals. It's also even more surprising when you take into account exactly which boarders were responsible for that particular piece of malarkey.
At the moment there seems to be a number of people taking the whole thing (and perhaps themselves) far too seriously. When you bear in mind the majority of this site appears to consist of 30 something fanboys/girls (or to put it in layman's terms, Sci-Fi obsessed Anoraks who enjoy hanging out with their fellow nerds and see nothing strange in such a harmless obsession) this seems a little bit surreal. This description includes myself before you start reaching for your keyboards in indignation.
There does however seem to be a number of boarders who don't realise that some people have just as much fun by being off topic as well as on, but I'm amazed at the amount of people here who seem to think that all I do is post nonsense the whole time. A quick check through my previous posts would show you that I'm nearly always on hand to provide sensible help, information and advice whenever possible, but I guess if you assume that everything I post is crap and just skip through it, you wont have realised that though will you?
I've mentioned before that my own fanboy knowledge is vast, but I'd hate people to think that was all there was to me and I could not indulge in conversation that in any way deviated from my obsession. I still stand by this today because from my experience it makes conversation a much more pleasant experience for those with a casual or novice like approach to the genre and also gives people the impression that I have more than one dimension to my personality.
The argument that these sort of posts will discourage potential new members or visitors to the site just doesn't hold any water for me at all I'm afraid. I can however, see how a site made up of an elite group of fanboys with no tolerance of anything other than their own personal preferences would have a negative effect on the influx. The fact that the site membership continues to grow and any boarders who leave always seem to return at some point would also seem to negate these arguments.
The fact of the matter is that it is ridiculous that so many people with so much in common can find such minor things to gripe over. If I can be intentionally ironic here, there are times when I feel like I'm back at school when I'm on this site. The "You can't be in our gang because you're different" attitudes aren't really the basis of a healthy community are they? Can't we just accept that we all have diverse views regarding humour and topics of conversation and get on with life?
Once again, just remember how minor an issue this really is. It won't affect your day-to-day life and it's certainly no threat to your well-being. Of course the greatest irony is that this whole site now seems to have turned into the Big Brother house.

Ho hum, here we go again.
Apologies to everyone who seems to have been p*ssed off by the whole 2K Big Brother thing, it's intended purely as a bit of fun, an opportunity to create and send up our own version of a popular albeit extremely dull TV show.
The Big Brother event was intended to be my swansong regarding board hi-jacking posts, which was why I wanted to create something that would involve all or as many boarders as possible. The prizes on offer are all genuine top-notch items, donated by my fellow boarders and myself by way of thanks for the hours of fun and mischief you've permitted me to indulge in so far.
It seems somewhat of an overstatement to say that the board is cluttered up with threads relating to this event considering that there are only five posts, six with this (by myself anyway) out of around 132 possible. Bearing that in mind, it does seem to have provoked a somewhat extreme reaction amongst some boarders, but if you start questioning the purpose of irreverent fun then it's unlikely this will make a difference to you.
I'm all for condensing the threads if that's what everyone wants, but my original reasons for splitting them in the first place was to prevent over posting, leading to the slowing down of the thread and to provide a bit of virtual variety.
Anyway, for the threadmates who still wish to take part, in fact anyone who wishes to take part and make up the twelve, here's your challenge for this week...
Write a sequel to Bison.
Yep, that's right you'll need to put your heads together here and come up with a short, plausible (or less than) follow up to the man/woman cop that is Bison.
The best way to achieve this is for each threadmate to write a piece of the story and then leave the next threadmate to take it up on the following post. The task should be carried out on the Big Brother Diary Room thread.

24 May, 2003, 07:00:44 AMYes that's right, I've had another daft idea. This one involves nominating twelve 2K boarders to enter the imaginary cyberworld Big Brother house on this thread and wind each other up until you nominate them out.
The rules are as follows:
You must nominate twelve boarders who either post on the board or frequent the chat room.
As there seems to be a smaller percentage of females than males on site, just nominate anyone who's in touch with their feminine side.
Once nominated the chosen boarders must interact with their "housemates" by posting on this thread or arguing in the chatroom.
Boarders must flirt with each other and create sexual tension in order to keep the outsiders interested.
A series of challenges will be set throughout the time the contestants spend within the Big Brother thread in order for them to gain privileges such as being allowed to read their weekly progs.
At the end of each week you must nominate four boarders who you think would take rejection really badly, giving your reason for doing so if you like.
The four nominees will then be subject to a vote, which basically involves you putting on this thread who you want booting out and the one with the most votes having to go.
Once ejected from the Big Brother thread, boarders must not sell their secrets to the tabloids or have more than fifteen further minutes of fame.
The overall winner will receive a number of groovy prizes, which will hopefully be donated by generous boarders ;)

Well if you haven't already sussed out what the "HELP" link is for, or just can't be arsed to look, here's a refresher...
Step 1. Choose your icon.
Icons are 32x32 pixel gifs. There are many examples on the 2000ad website already. To find out the name of the icon you want, right click on it and check the properties.
If you can't find a suitable icon, or have one of your own that you would like to use, send the image to binaries@2000adonline.com Animated gifs are permissible, but should be no larger than about 5k If you can't create one, ask on the message board and someone may make one for you if they can be arsed or are not too "busy".
Icons will usually be uploaded to the site the same working day, assuming they are sent while Wake is on site, So don't expect to be able to use them instantly.
Step 2. Follow the link to the database chat room.
Step 3. Type /icon then the name of the icon you want.
Step 4. Find a message on the message board you have previously posted to check. If you have not previously posted just reply to any of the messages already there.

As Kertap has pointed out, this is a wonderful site and we are a wonderful bunch here, but I think things could be more wonderful still and here's how...
Inspired by the glory that was The Multi Coloured Swap Shop, I thought that as there are so many of us here from not only the length and breadth of the country, but also from all around the world, the opportunity for us to track down and complete all the things we have desired for so many years may be easily achieved through this very site.
Now I know there is a fair amount of bartering going on about the site anyway, but this way your appeal will go out to every board member around the world so the chances are you will have far more success in finding what you seek. Bear in mind that it's also going to be cheaper than online auctions.
So do you have items languishing around your home that you know someone else may appreciate in return for something you crave as desperately? Have you been trying to track down a Wolverine tag from the Kellogs Frosties, but have so far only been rewarded with Magneto's? Perhaps it's a Catweazle annual a Magic Roundabout lightshade or even an ALF video. If so, stick your wants, need or desires on this thread with what you are prepared to offer in exchange.

Over the Moon? Not yet in fact it may take me some time. I have in the meantime decided that offline readers of 2K or the Meg, whichever really it's not important, should be given the chance to see and read the excellence that is Paul and Oliver's "That Wonderful Mr Moon". It's far too good to remain here on the site and should be seen by every 2K fan the world over.
Time for a poll I hear you cry, although that may just be "Little Mo" who lives in my head. Now not being one for polls I thought I'd leave it to someone else to do, DXB perhaps? He seems to be adept at that sort of thing. Anyway, voice your opinion here and do your thing.

I'm reposting this due to a fantastic piece of timing in which the site clock was adjusted as I posted the original of this, leading to a rather confusing situation where replies appeared before the original message. It's probably best to ignore the others, in fact it's probably best to ignore all my posts.
Yes it's Trout week all this week on your super soar-away site. In an effort to prevent his Troutship from murdering us all because his prog failed to arrive on time it has been officially declared a celebration of all things Trouty.
Starting today King Troutman invites you all, under pain of death, to take part in the celebration of his fishtastic and long spanning rule of the 2K online site.
All week long there will be a number of fish related threads and activities on the board, provided by yourselves for the entertainment of the water dwelling despot. Join in the fun as you remember the heavy penalties for anyone refusing to.
Boarders are expected to change their name to a suitably fishy or oceanic pun on their original one and anyone found not doing so will be drowned by a gang of happy smiling children.
