Well normal I'd love and applaude a fiesty, interesting debate like the one we had here... but its HERE in a tie that should have been as cut and dry as any we've had. Firekind, done in one classic, Mean Team utterly meandering pap ... and we got to this???!!! You lot, some times. Anyway some of you can count yourselves very luck that it wasn't quite as close as I feared, but still

Firekind

TO BLOODY RIGHT IT'LL BE IN ROUND 4!!!

Want to read Alan Moore's 2nd ever interview? Want to see just why David Roach's artwork was so good he was snapped up by 2000ad after he'd drawn only 4 comic strips? Then this is the fanzine (published in 1984) is for you - deep pockets required!

Oh and you can read the interview (alas couldn't read the Starslayer article - so many GREAT comics started as back ups in that comic!). Only Alan Moore could make an chat about salad on a bus so interesting!

'Iznogoud' comic - this only lasted 3 issues. A complete guide to what's in each issue...

https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2022/06/updated-iznogoud-comic-1996.html

Wow interesting that with so many BD out there and the anthology format of the title they still went for straight Iznogoud not a mix, though I guess there might be all sorts of rights issues I don't understand.

Well have to be honest while this is going the way I was expecting its not anywhere near as close as I'd have fought. Last day on the tie of the round and I'll wrap this up in the morning.

I mean you have been warned, we will do this all, I mean ALL of it again if you don't get this one right and its looking close, without having done a fun count. Get those vote in today.

So here we are final week of Round 3 and quality here will set us up well for what's to come. There are some stunning ties here and a proper local derby to really add some flavour - I was so chuffed when this one was drawn as it's a right good tie (you’ll only have to wait until Tuesday…). Round 4 will be coming soon (Monday next week I imagine!) and it's going to start to get super tough… or tougher at least!

The Round ends with two Dredd world series. Dark Judges gave sentence to an unrated story from the dark-times in Mambo. The rejuvenation of Death and co deserves a good run though… but will it get it as it comes up against Ezquerra’s most Coburn of characters with the super cool dusty cop? Koburn gunned down Terror Tales last round, one of the better series of done in ones so it has form. Pucker up folks as we kiss Round 3 goodbye…

Dark Judge (Dominion, Torture Garden etc) - more info

Vs

Cursed Earth Koburn - more info

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.

Match ends early on the morning of Sunday 3rd  July and the winner gets a place in Round 4 (of 9!!!).

What on Earth is ALL of this?

For those that need ‘um and can be bothered to follow ‘um there’s some simple rules

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN

Last day of Round 3 might not have the high level draws we’ve seen in some ties this round but they do make for interesting match-ups all the same. Missionary Man, always a bit of a favourite of mine had to fight to get past the original Mean Arena. While Freaks simply spat in the face of Corps, having done for Movie dredd in Round 1. So does the form book make Freaks the favourite? We’ll see how that pans put…

Full Tilt Boogie got a fair amount of very deserved love, it was such a refreshing thrill and has such wonderful art, but at the end of the day the dark forboding and timelyness of DreadNoughts alway had this.

DreadNought

will be raising its riot shielf in Round 4

Clear cut and straightforward stuff. I guess the question is how much was fuelled by the nostaglic love of the original series (well or just plain love!) or respect for the superb later series, which I think can get lost in the views on the predecessor? Either way Dandridge just didn't get going here and in the Prog and as such

VCs

will be looks for votes not vapes in Round 4.

Its a bit of a tussle, but really its only going one way but there is a lot of love for Full Tilt Boogie, it just got a rough draw. A day to go and I'll wrap it up in the morning.
