"what's to stop Apple modding the iPod with a bigger screen just like the Zune"

Don't forget, there's the touchscreen video iPod allegedly waiting in the wings.

Cheers

"So it's basically a msPod, then?"

Apparently, it has a built-in FM radio tuner, and will connect wirelessly to other Zunes so you can stream your music to someone else's player (although if the other player stores it, surely that's a copyright infringement?) ...

Price point, allegedly, is $299, which, with 30Gb of storage, makes it both more expensive and uglier than the equivalent iPod.

The screen's bigger, though.

Cheers!

You gotta love those design guys at Microsoft ...

"Well, gee ... how do make our new Zune MP3 player different from the iPod, then?"

"Say, I've an idea ... the iPod is cool, right? So why don't we make the Zune, well, not cool?"

"Good thinking! We can make it in white, grey and, umm ... brown!"

Mmm. Nice.

Cheers!

"Although I too like some of Kim's Dredd"

I always had Raymond in the same bracket as John Cooper on Dredd ... perfectly good artist, but somehow just not quite right for the strip.

That's really not a criticism of the artist ... some artists just don't work on Dredd. Personally, although I'm a huge fan, I never thought Dave Gibbons' handful of outings on the character ever convinced. Nor Glenn Fabry, for that matter ...

Hey! I have a great hat ... and I'm nicer than Terry Pratchett.

And I have more hair.

Does that get me a place?

Here's hoping ...

Does anyone know what the job was? (Yes, I am a nosy bastard.)

There's an interesting feaure in this week's New Scientist that suggests that -- whatever the dangers of global warming -- we're well overdue for the next 'mini-ice-age' and this might offer us the opportunity to get our shit together, if the global temperature drops by 0.2% due to decreased solar activity.

Although I'd quite like to see this trailer, before I waste God-only-knows how long clicking on that link with a dial-up connection, can anyone tell me what format the trailer is in?

Basically, if it's a WMV, AVI or needs higher than Quicktime 6.x, I won't be able to view it ...

"Should Morrison get out of comics and get into theatre?"

That was probably 'Red King Rising' (I think), which won a couple of awards.

A couple of years later, he followed it up with a play about Aleister Crowley called 'Depravity' which, IIRC, was -- ahem -- somewhat less well-received.

I don't think he's bothered since.
