I left the Starlord story last because I'm going on a rant.
I hated this story.
I hate this story with a passion.
I am one of the old guard. I was there at the start of 2000ad and I was there at the start of Starlord. I read both and I enjoyed both. And as such I despise the hatchetjob that Kenneth Neimand has done on Starlord and to a lesser extent on Tharg himself. Neimand would have been much better advised to do a tribute to a character from the founding days of British sci-fi comics instead of what twisted take he came up with. I am not a fan of retconns but this was on a whole different level.

I may be wrong, but with the nostalgic vibe I kinda assumed that Kenneth Neimand is Keith Richardson. I really enjoyed the Starlord story, the radicalisation angle made me chuckle.

Whoa there tiger - I'm innocent. Wish I did write it though as imo it was cracking!

Matt did edit out a Tornado moment in which the skin head Weetabix crew batter Big E to death with socks stuffed with snooker balls. The Green Cross code Man and Wolfie Smith just watched....and laughed.

Malcolm Shaw's name is spelt wrong on the cover for Misty volume 2 on Amazon.

It's spelt correctly on the final cover. they must have been sent an earlier version.

Does anybody know if Rebellion are planning on reprinting anything from Battle or Action? I got the One Eyed Jack reprint but it only covers the run in Valiant and not the stories from the merger wth Battle. I know Titan own the rights but they are pretty slow when it comes to reprints. Johnny Red book 4 took ages to come out.

Yes we are. Rebellion own the rights now.

How long they each lasted or how popular they were back when each title was still being published doesn't really matter. This is a new one-off aimed at a younger demographic who more than likely haven't ever heard of either Scream! or Misty before. Having a larger Scream! logo on a comic that will be on sale over Halloween surely can't be no bad thing though right?

Are we doing Misty a disservice? I don't think so. We have more female creative talent involved in this than you ever got working on any one issue of Misty. Also, the majority of the strips feature female protagonists.

Most importantly though, we're getting new Scream! and Misty material out there - surely we can all agree that that is a great thing?

A flip cover - no thanks. An expensive back page advert - yes please.

Hello all - thought I'd pop by to answer a few questions.

Trapper Hag didn't die. He escaped the Iso Cubes but was then recaptured by Dredd in the two-part Revenge of trapper Hag waaaaaaaay back in 1999.

The extent and size of the FCBD prog was dictated to us by the FCBD committee.

Kei Zama is a she.

Thanks for going out and picking up our 2017 offering.

From the DSDC group on FB:

The 2000ad 40th anniversary bash is rapidly approaching and so a D.S.D.C. Evening is most definitely on the cards.

The D.S.D.C. 40th BASH will be held at the William Morris pub, which according to google maps is 7 minute walk (14 minute return stagger) from the Novotel Hotel, the location for the Con on Saturday.

7pm onwards is the official time but as 'Spoons do food (I can recommend the wings), I presume people may arrive earlier.

Look out for fellow Dredd/2000ad fans or people in Sexy D.S.D.C Tshirts.

As always "all are welcome"!

See you at the bar for "A Taste Of Justice". 👍🏻🍻

Pub details can be found HERE...https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/london/the-william-morris-hammersmith

All welcome! See you there!

PS - THIS IS ON THE FRIDAY!!!

The William Morris is cheap and cheerful...probably explains why it is kick-off central.

The Hop Poles across the road is good http://www.hoppoleshammersmith.co.uk/Venue.aspx.
Latymers, which is closer to the venue and away from the busy King street, is also nice http://www.latymershammersmith.co.uk

I'm at the Lakes festival and went to both McMahon talks today. At both he talked about being given a description for a cover from someone in marketing which led to one of his favourite things he's done in years. I wonder if this is that cover.

I described this cover (along with a couple of other possibilities) when I commissioned Mick. I don't work in marketing though, so he can't be talking about this.

I think I've only been in the Hop Poles, you're quite right Steve, probably not big enough.
I guess we'll end up in the hotel as usual. Maybe they will have one decent beer.  :)

The Salutation is good (just past the Weatherspoons), while Latymers which is quite close to the venue, is never that busy.

It's John Stokes.  Really underrated artist.
Marney the Fox from Buster has some amazing art by John.

Marney the Fox is rather good, isn't it?

But why would anyone really care all that much about credits unless it's for a credits page?
