Hi everyone, just to give you a heads up - we've had notice from our distributors that, due to problems beyond their control, Prog 1849 was a day late arriving in the warehouse and so it is unlikely that subscribers will receive it today. Apologies for this.

Comicbookresources have recently added a UK option to their new FindAComicShop.com service.

However, they have been unable to find a comprehensive and - above all else - accurate listing of all the comic book shops in the UK. So they wondered whether acolytes of Tharg would help with a little crowd sourcing and identify the shops local to them in order to build a full listing. Any and all help gratefully received!

General / Fancy a Tumbl with Tharg?
15 March, 2013, 05:11:03 PM
Loyal Earthlets! Within the very centre of Tharg's expansive Thrill-powered empire, the Nerve Centre is constantly echoing with the sound of busy droids beavering away to produce each heart-rate-raising, pulse-pounding, eye-popping edition of 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine. See their little legs blur as they rush from task to task, the servo-motors straining as they seek to ensure that no story is less than zarjaz and no drop of Thrill-power is wasted...

But with SO MUCH to do, there are some tasks that even Tharg himself realises must be delegated for the sake of droids' nerves.

So ... to help bolster 2000 AD's growing social media presence, we are looking for an Earthlet to help maintain the 2000 AD Tumblr account at http://2000adonline.tumblr.com/

The successful Terran will have great knowledge of the history of Thrill-power and experience of regularly maintaining their own lively Tumblr account, and be prepared to run the Tumblr over the course of the next 12 months. In return they will receive a year's worth of 2000 AD graphic novels! Don't delay, join Tharg's minions today by contacting press@rebellion.co.uk

Announcements / Cover me!
13 March, 2013, 04:49:34 PM
It's been setting the newsstands ablaze with pulse-pounding covers for 36 years and now 2000 AD is teaming up with one of its biggest fans to bring you the Galaxy's Greatest Covers!

Pete Wells of 2000 AD Covers Uncovered and 2000ADonline.com are coming together to give you exclusive access to the process behind the covers of 2000 AD, from sketches to pencils to inks and finished art!

The blog will be featured every week on 2000 AD's official website, so that fans can see the work behind the Prog's latest covers.

Things kick off tomorrow at 11am (GMT) when the blog bids 'bon voyage' to Ian Edginton (Victorian Undead) and Steve Yeowell's (Zenith) mythical pirate epic The Red Seas! The series comes to a close this week in 2000 AD Prog 1823 with a double-length episode and a swashbuckling cover from Yeowell.

As well as a step-by-step look at Yeowell's cover, the blog gives a rundown of classic Captain Jack Dancer covers of yesteryear, by some of the biggest names in comics!

Long-standing 2000 AD fan Pete said: "I've read and loved 2000 AD for years and just set the blog up because it was always the covers that caught my eye every week. To be able to get the artists to reveal the process behind their amazing work has been a real labour of love. I'm really excited that I'm going to be working with 2000 AD to bring the behind-the-scenes sketches, pencils and inks to fans everywhere."

Matt Smith, editor of 2000 AD, said: "At 2000 AD our cover artists are some of the biggest names in comics and it's always been fascinating for me to see the step-by-step process they go through to craft such dynamic and outstanding images. Pete does a great job in talking to the artists and revealing the process from beginning to end."

General / Correction to SHAKO collected edition
06 March, 2013, 03:45:25 PM
Pat Mills has asked us to mention that, contrary to the information in the recent collected edition of SHAKO, the character of Shako was created by him and Ramon Sola, rather than co-created with John Wagner. We're happy to clarify the matter.

We're currently taking action against several sites that upload torrents of each Prog, often before the issue has even been printed - and we'd like to ask for your help.

If you find links to a new Prog on a torrent site, could you please post a link in this thread so that we can keep track of where it is appearing and when?

Cheers

Announcements / Krill Tro Thargos 2013: the winners!
14 December, 2012, 03:44:35 PM
I thought we'd wait until later this year to announce the winners of the coveted Krill Tro Thargo awards, which are given out by Tharg the Mighty himself to Earthlets he considers have served the cause of Thrill-power well.

Three recipients have already been announced - Alex Garland and Karl Urban, for their work to bring a truly excellent version of Judge Dredd to the big screen, and Douglas Wolk for his work bringing the greatness of 2000 AD to the masses in America.

And we're very pleased to unveil the final two winners of this year's awards - take a bow Pete Wells and Wakefield Carter!

Pete is honoured thanks to his 2000 AD covers blog, which continue to delight Thrill-hungry Earthlets with its behind-the-scenes peeks into the processes behind Prog covers.

Wake was instrumental in creating and maintaining 2000 AD's presence on the internet, as well as for creating the Barney online database. He is honoured for his tireless service to Thrill-power!

Announcements / Judge Dredd joins World Book Night
08 November, 2012, 01:43:23 PM
2000 AD is delighted to announce that one of its titles has been chosen as the first ever graphic novel to be featured in World Book Night.

Judge Dredd: The Dark Judges is an all-time classic from the pages of the ongoing weekly British comic, and this pocket-size 'B format' reprint sees the ultimate lawman of the future encounter his deadliest foes - Judges from a dimension where even life itself is a crime!

It is the first time that a graphic novel has been featured in World Book Night, which aims to give away 500,000 books to promote and encourage reading. The BBC has returned as the charity's media partner, with the book selection to feature on BBC1's "The One Show" tonight (8 November), as well as tomorrow's "Newsnight Review".

Featuring some of the most iconic moments in the strip's history, this volume includes the original Judge Death story, along with the sequels, Death Lives and The Dark Judges, and the Judge Anderson follow-up, Four Dark Judges. The Dark Judges are the four grotesque lawmen of the Apocalypse: the chilling Judge Fear, the devastating Judge Fire, the terrifying Judge Mortis and their leader - JUDGE DEATH! Twisted alien super-fiends from another dimension where all life has been declared a crime, after wiping out their own world, they plan to bring that murderous mission to Mega-City One!

Judge Dredd and his wise-cracking psychic partner, Judge Anderson, must do everything they can to stop the fearsome foursome bringing their brand of justice to the city!

"As one of the most iconic British brands in publishing we are absolutely delighted to be a part of World Book Night ," said 2000 AD and Rebellion Publishing manager Ben Smith. "Not only is The Dark Judges a classic Judge Dredd story, but the role that comics can play in encouraging reading and boosting literacy are well known. I have no doubt that people who receive one of the free copies will discover a new world of amazing stories, and hopefully will develop an appetite for great British comics."
