Title: "The Best Comics of the Decade (are all Judge Dredd" from the Comics Journal
Post by: Colin YNWA on 29 January, 2020, 09:27:16 PM
Well just in case anyone hasn't picked this up from Thrillmail a really nice article from 'Comics Journal' - the once last bastition of comics journalism and now... well to be honest I'm not looked at it for a loing time.

ANYWAY in case you haven't read it read this. Nice evaluation of the last 10 years of Dredd and why its the best comics of the last decade.

Though if any buggers dares to tell me 'Tour of Duty' is now ten years old I'll tear ya eyes out, hear me tear ya eyes out.

Tour of Duty is like 13 years old isn't it?

If you want to feel really old, the gap between now and then is the same as the gap between Tour of Duty and Wilderlands...

...or the same as the gap between Wilderlands and Block Mania.

You're welcome.

I saw that, always nice to see Dredd getting appreciation on a front page. In general just nice to see somebody digging Dredd, and a good job getting across how much there is to it.

And I do like the takeaway of a lot of it being about "can you be a good person in a bad system". Like they say, us Dredd fans are well used to this stuff going back to comics from the 80s, the Democracy arc and everything, but people not in the know may not be aware of these levels to the writing.

Fantastic article, and lovely to see Dredd and 2000AD getting a bit of promotion.

Mind you, whenever I read an article like this, I'm always busting to do a re-read of so many great Dredd stories, and it also causes a dent in the bank account as I purchase further Complete Case Files.

That's a really good article.

I've linked it over to my English degree studying daughter- see what she makes of it.

It's good, but it has a lot of spoilers, which might put off people who haven't read them before.
