I was looking for necropolis myself and found this. I'm trying to catch up on all the main Dredd stories I've missed.

That's a great piece Gibson Quarter it got a laugh out of me as I scrolled down the image to see all the zombies up to no good. A damn fine composition, you captured Dredds impending face plant perfectly.

QuoteDo you find Painter much better than Photoshop for inking?

I still kind of prefer inking on paper, I tried photoshop and painter to see if it's as good as paper. I prefer painter as it has a nice range of brushes. I used the calligraphy pen for this piece. Also the natural way you can rotate  the canvas with a hot key helped a lot. What I like is I can play with lineweights and if I dont like it I just erase it. I know you can paint over inks on paper I find this method less messy.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. For Gibson Quarter, I pretty much took a thumbnail that I had done on paper, worked over it in photoshop to create the rough earlier in the thread. Then printed this out really lightly and pencilled over it. Then scanned back onto the PC and inked in painter. I'll get a proper wip up if I manage to colour it. I will do soon just not sure if I can by friday. I tried to keep the inks fast and loose. I think it's also why there are dodgey bits. The colours may fix that.

Thats a SERIOUSLY large body of work. I remember some of it from ImagineFX when I first saw some of your pieces. You have a very distinct style which is a good thing. Necrophim is coming along very nicely one of the highlights of each week currently. I m really impressed at the fact you manage to work all day, then have some family time and work on comic stuff. How long do you spend on each page approx? I  also aiming to follow suit in that routine. It's not easy to stay focused 10 -12 hours a day on artwork.

Here is the latest on my entry I don't think I'll be fitting in the colours by friday so I'll probably call this my final entry. Unless I find a day with 30 hours in it   I played around with 100% digital inks. Still not sold on it. It's only my 3rd time approaching inks this way. I think if I had a cintiq it may work better ......

I ve tried this out and am very happy with it. I do still prefer paper but I can have the trades for that. For my weekly prog I ll continue with pdf's as they take up a lot less space.

QuoteSlaine is unexpectedly back in the Prog in two weeks time.

  Awesome, I have been going through older progs covering all the recent Slaine stories up to Carnival. There is a massive leap in quality as time went on which is normal. I do like his technique and work. It'll be nice to get a different artist on the character for a bit. If Slaine is back soon with Langleys work that's still good news

I do like Clints work but  I m not a huge fan of the recent Slaine, then again variety is the spice of life so it'll be refreshing to see Slaine drawn again or painted. All that photo work just takes away from the "comicness" of it all.

Some excellent work popping up, I really like the chosen shot supersurfer I hope you get to finish it.
Great piece Simon I like the desaturated colours and the composition with the sisters of death coming from the solid black jacket.

I have not seen this until now, that's a pretty damn fine cover. I've always really liked Patrick Goddard's work.

Heh tyrellcorp, I dont have orthographic views of Dredd ( I have drawn some up somewhere before to model him also but cant find them ) I do have a few links to sites you may find useful after you begin where you can get help with Maya if your stuck. I'll be doing a Dredd sculpt soon in maya and mudbox after I finish with the April art comp. There are many sites that deal with 3d they re some of my favs.

Hi Kerrin nice image a lot of work has gone into it. I found the fatty

For the inks be careful not to have any linework in the middle or background as thick as the foreground with Dredd otherwise it may look flat. At the moment the middle borders around the buildings have the same thickness as Dredds border. I really like the chosen camera angle and composition. It does seem to have lost the perspective in a few areas did you use any vanishing points ?

No worries uncle fester, one way of finding out if someone is doing a similar piece is to post a WIP and wait for the ......
