« on: 26 October, 2021, 06:47:01 AM »
I couldn't seem to find a thread about (one of my favourite artists) Carl Critchlow (sob!) so I'll start me own...Here's some of his early roleplaying games artwork...

Any other favourites that folk want to share?

I've collated my recent posts about 'Ant Wars' original art into a single post (see below) - will the 2 pages currently up for sale become the most expensive yet? We'll find out soon

General / 'Powerman' by Gibbons / Bolland - who did what?
« on: 12 October, 2021, 06:58:03 AM »
I've finally pulled together my not quite definitive list of who drew what on the Bolland / Gibbons 'Powerman' strip in the 1970s (see below)

https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/10/powerman-by-gibbons-bolland.html

You'll see that there are still a few omissions - I don't suppose there are many complete sets out there but if you have even 1 or 2 issues and can help out with details that's be great, thanks!

Ending 9pm tonight (Sunday) are 6 pages (!) of Eric Bradbury art from prog 212 - a complete Future Shock. All details https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/10/6-pages-of-eric-bradburys-2000ad-art-up.html

General / MACH1 art from prog 4 on evilbay
« on: 02 October, 2021, 07:24:08 AM »
I'm sure folk will have seen the MACH1 art from prog 4 that's currently up for sale on evilbay...worth a look if you haven't seen it just to see a page of art inscribed with the letters "JNP13".

For those not in the know this stands for 'Juvenile New Publication 13' - the pre-launch designation/codename for 2000AD.

All details & images are on the blog https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/10/mach-1-original-art-from-prog-4.html

General / Tom Tully's novels
« on: 10 September, 2021, 06:50:26 AM »
I read a few of these a looooong time ago - perhaps of most interest about them these days is the quality of the artists contributing...Geoff Senior, John Higgins, Kim Raymond and Yvonne Hutton

General / Simon Bisley sketchbooks
« on: 03 August, 2021, 06:41:53 AM »
I love getting an artist sketchbook at a convention...Simon Bisley seems to have produced the most of any artist I've come across these are the ones I've found so far..

...but do let me know if I've missed any - thanks!

« on: 24 July, 2021, 07:03:58 AM »
I was surprised to discover recently that Steve Parkhouse had contributed covers (and interiors) to the UK version of 'Mad' magazine. It was news to me so maybe it's news to you? Anyway, details are here https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/07/steve-parkhouse-for-mad-magazine.html

General / John Hicklenton prints
« on: 02 May, 2021, 06:53:14 AM »
Hello,

anyone here an expert of John Hicklenton artwork?

On the blog today ( https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/05/update-john-hicklenton-prints.html ) I'm highlighting 3 prints that John did, one is a Dredd piece but I don't know if the other 2 pieces are from 2000AD or not. If you can help in anyway that'd be great.

please note that I'm not the seller of these prints.

Thanks in advance folks, happy Sunday!

General / 2000ad reprints by other publishers?
« on: 04 April, 2021, 07:56:01 AM »
Just reading 'The hanged man' reprints (published by Caliber comics) and I wondered if there are other examples of other (US) publishers re-printing material from 2000AD?

Just an idle thought.

« on: 17 March, 2021, 06:54:28 AM »
I've come across these images of Dave Gibbons being photographed in and around King's Reach Tower for pre-launch photos for 'Tornado' - hope they're of interest

General / Dredd pages in 'Cartoon Aid'
« on: 12 March, 2021, 07:01:48 AM »
Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can help identify the Dredd pages in the book 'Cartoon Aid'. I think the book is all reprint material rather than undiscovered work so that should make it easier, lol.

The pages are https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/03/updated-cartoon-aid.html

I've ordered a copy of this book so will report back the full extent of 2000AD/Dredd contents in due course

Any help much appreciated

General / unused Tornado annual 1980 cover
« on: 27 February, 2021, 07:29:25 AM »
I love those flyers that Fleetway used to produce with details of all their annuals in - used to help no end with trying to hint what would be a good Christmas present.

Anyway, I've just come across details of the 1980 version and see that the Tornado cover included in the flyer is a mock-up cover rather than the final version.

Anyway, if that excites you like it excites me then you can see it here...

https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/02/updated-annual-flyers.html

Thanks.

General / Chiller picture library - Dave Gibbons art
« on: 20 February, 2021, 07:46:04 AM »
For those who haven't seen it before 'Chiller Picture Library' was a 70s horror version of 'Commando' comic

Dave Gibbons contributed to at least one issue (#43, reprinted as #102) and it looks like a prototypical 'Artie Gruber' is in it!

https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/02/pocket-chiller-library-dave-gibbons-art.html

Anyway, hope it's of interest.
