General / Re: Mega City Book Club - a new podcast about 2000AD books
« on: 14 September, 2021, 07:02:23 AM »

The podcast crossover month begins with the fabulous Fox from Space Spinner 2000 and that giant ant attack from 1978. Minor spoilers for the ending of a terrific bit of early 2000AD schlock.

And listen out for a change in the playout music in honour of Fox and Conrad's podcast.

good news! A few pages of 'Ant Wars' artwork is currently up for sale (but not Fox's grail page sadly) - all details below

I read a few of these a looooong time ago - perhaps of most interest about them these days is the quality of the artists contributing...Geoff Senior, John Higgins, Kim Raymond and Yvonne Hutton

Always worth keeping an eye on the Twitter feed too - the volume 3 hardback was sold out by the time I went to order it BUT I subsequently saw that it was advertised for sale again when 2000AD were doing a countdown to the publication of volume 3. I ordered it then and am now reading it - it's #399 (of 400) so I wonder if a few volumes are held back 'just in case'?

I was surprised to discover recently that Steve Parkhouse had contributed covers (and interiors) to the UK version of 'Mad' magazine. It was news to me so maybe it's news to you? Anyway, details are here https://boysadventurecomics.blogspot.com/2021/07/steve-parkhouse-for-mad-magazine.html

page 233 - which comics were being sold for 3p or 4p in 1984/5? I'm going to say absolutely none, but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong [for reference New Eagle was 22p at the time]
