Indigo Prime. But only for the first few series, not the modern one.

A difficult one for me, as I never liked Rogue and Jaegir needs to be read all the way through for me to appreciate it, I think.

Jaegir. Because I do at least want to read it.

Another vote for Vector 13, but otherwise Future Shocks.

I have to go for THE OUT. While Halo is, obviously, a work of great genius, the simple fact that 2000AD can still produce a series that challenges it all these years later, and a series that in itself justifies the cover price in these times of extreme financial horror, is enough to make me give it to the newbie.

Plus, Cyd is marvellous.

As IndigoPrime says, they are so completely different that it's very hard to choose. I'd be more inclined to vote Savage if Pat had finished it. As it stands, I'm going for INVASION because when I was seven I'd never read anything like it. And I always wanted a TV version with a Porridge-era Ronnie Barker as Bill.

That Dead Meat cover pictured above is one of my all-time favourites. Having that "featuring Inspector Raam" banner stuck under the logo was wonderful and hilarious, and I remember buying three copies. Two for the collection and one for the wall. Very much enjoyed DM at the time. Haven't read it in years though.

Dinosty was... obviously designed for another comic.

Announcements / Re: Judge Dredd: The Darkest Judge - coming July 2023

The prog and Meg strippage came to 106 pages, unless my butterfingers did it all wrong or I got a special extra strip that you lot didn't get. Mind you, that zombie Slaine and zombie Bill Savage teaming up against Defoe and Greysuit was EPIC and ARSOM!

Usually, I'm not keen on doubling up on recent stuff like this- especially when originally published 'complete' as it were in the first place, without the faff of dragging multiple comics out of boxes and bags to read it... but this one I really liked, and the thought of it as a bookshelf edition means they might have made a sale.

Announcements / Re: 2000 AD - The Ultimate Collection
« on: 22 September, 2022, 02:49:58 PM »
After having skipped every single further episode of BLUNT when running in The Meg, after not getting on with the first one or two, for some reason I picked up the Ultimate Collection book when I saw it on the shelf in WHS.

And, though I still find Boo Cook's art more hard work than I would like, I have to say that I'm really enjoying it. It's been underneath my coffee table for a few weeks and I only opened it this morning. An hour or so later, I'd finished Book One, and had somewhat changed my mind about it. Yes, Cook's art still rankles (I think it's his palette with all the pinks, which to my eyes distract from the clarity of what the hell I'm looking at), but on the whole that first story is a great, and old-fashioned, 'Death Planet' style romp. Great characters, and bang up to date with the ecological concerns becoming central to the plot as it goes along. Can't wait to see how it develops over the next two books.

Nice when that happens.

Revere. Hewligan's Haircut is an annoying pain in the arse and one of the worst things the prog has ever printed.

Prog / Re: Prog 2300: On the Day of Judgement...
« on: 21 September, 2022, 06:10:09 PM »
My floppy had Dredd annual 1983 (intended as the actual inside back cover) as the cover, the back cover (Cheers, Robin) as the inside front cover, the actual cover (Robin Smith cover layouts) as the inside back cover, and the inside front cover (copyrights etc) a the back cover.

You are absolutely correct. I didn't even notice, due to being blown over by the content. Oh well. But! It says "Volume One" on the cover- which means hopefully another one!

In answer to the question above- my cover was the Dredd annual one, and yes, I'm assuming it was the right way round.

Well, for me that was the single best Prog in years- and the best Meg since that recent run with Dreadnoughts, Megatropolis and Lawless. Huge fun, gorgeous to look at, can't be faulted.

Robin Smith floppy I would definitely buy if presented between gard covers and expanded with extra text etc.

Prog up to £3.50 from next week I seem. Ho hum.
