Team Classic vs. Team Current
Only work for Tharg to be Considered

What a way to end this. For me this vote is a important as the one that started the competition with two titans of the comic. One who left us when he was fully formed to great, great things... mind he wasn't half good when he was here. The other came to us when he was fully formed and has stayed to take us to worlds beyond or imaginations on a regular basis. Damn this is a stinker to end on...

Time for you to decide your favourite as the droids square up to the tee for the final time...

OR

Ian Edginton - more info

Remember for this tourney you have 5 votes to distribute as you please between these two artists, whole numbers only. So you can vote 5 - 0; 4 - 1; or 3 - 2; either way depending on how much more you like one artist's work over the other.

If you can't be doing with that just name your favourite - remember bold tags, or other ways of highlighting always appreciated - and I'll give them 3 votes and nowt to the other droid.

Three day votes, so this one ends morning of Friday 16th July when this whole damned thing wraps up!

Remember we only consider work for Tharg in these Tourneys

What the heck is all this about - well we have a thread for that

How does this voting work? Look here

I don't understand how this works, what are the rules of the Solhiem Cup - yep got ya covered there too

Anything else just ask and I'll make something up. Most importantly, have fun

When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Both have done tremendous work so I'm going to tie them at 2 points each.

4-1 to Ian for me Clive, purely down to the diversity of his work.

Ewing's Dredd is top-tier. Zombo was a lot of fun.

Edgington has an annoying habit of abandoning series (Helium; and where is the superb Brass Sun?), and his Dredd is... OK. But: Ampney Crucis; Fiends of the Eastern Front; the wonderful Leviathan; Red Seas; Stickleback (bar, possibly,
that reveal
). Oh, and Scarlet Traces is now 2000 AD as well.

For me, this one has to be a case of quality AND quantity over just quality. So as much as I'd dearly love to see Ewing back on some Dredd:

Ewing 1 / Edginton 4

Very hard this one but overall I have enjoyed Ian's strips more.

Al Ewing - 2

Ian Edginton - 3

I couldn't make a snap decision and had to go the route of actually looking through their Barney pages and totting up an account of how mnay stories each had written that I loved/liked/disliked - and even then I couldn't separate the two!

Ewing has some seriously amazing Dredds under his belt, and of course Zombo - although I confess I like the idea of Zombo, and some one-off gags in it, more than I like the whole thing. But he's never delivered anything bad (although I think Tempest was trying a bit too hard a lot of the time).

Edginton, meanwhile, has some relatively poor Dredds under his belt, and has written a couple of series that I actively disliked (Detonator X and the meadnering parts of Red Seas), and a couple that I don't find as joyous as most people here seem to (Stickleback and Kingmaker).
BUT Edginton has pressed harder on my brain's pleasure circuits with more than a few of his offerings - Leviathan, Stone Island, Helium and of course Brass Sun, so he's winning out I think.

Let's say Edginton 3, Ewing 2

Those Ewing Dredds, though... been reading over the old Xmas Special Progs lately (you know, because) and he really nailed a good run of those.

Yeah, AlexF sums it up for me as well.

Ian 3
Al 2

Purely on the basis of who I would like to see more of in the prog (based on my reaction to their previous work) it would be 4-1 to Al.

No disrespect to Ian, whose work I generally enjoy - he is already romping home with this one, in any case!  But Al is the one that got away (the Next Generation) for me.

Just a little rough and tumble, Judge man.
