The only let-down for me was Jodie Whittaker falling out of the Tardis, which is just what Matt Smith did in his first appearance. Someone should have vetoed that.

Matt Smith fell out but hung on to the TARDIS & got back in it. This is not what happened to Jodie.

[spoiler]The Leia in space using the force was where the film jumped the shark for me. Not only was it ridiculous, even for a sci fi fantasy movie, but they fact they opened the doors to open space and everything was fine was even worse.
In regards to Yoda...I just assumed he was pissed. The books were saved anyway as they appeared on the Falcon at the end.[/spoiler]

It's a mess and gets worse the more I ponder it. Still, seeing it again tomorrow, with my Wife and Son, in 3-D.

I think it's ridiculous how much people knock RotJ these days. Yeah, it gets a bit silly towards the end, and it's easily the weakest of the OT, but it's still a stone cold classic, and is jam-packed with iconic sequences and visuals. Imo it's so much of a tighter, better constructed and more memorable film than any of the modern SW movies its not even funny.

My personal rankings would be:

1. Empire (I think the original works best as a standalone movie, but this is my go-to if I want to watch a SW movie)
2. Star Wars
3. Jedi

Big drop off

4. Force Awakens

MASSIVE drop off

5. Rogue One
6. Sith
7. Menace
8. Clones

I'm seeing TLJ tonight (Pacific Time) but one of my main worries going in is that I feel TFA set it up to fail in certain respects - especially regarding Luke's exile and Rey's back story, which imo cannot really be satisfactorily explained. I'm guessing that these aspects are the divisive bits?

No. The divisive bit is the flashback to Aunt Beru & Ben Kenobi making out behind the moisture farm.

Urgh, looks terrible. Especially the lead character. Why in a live action film give the lead character manga features? Its just distracting & makes her look weird compared to all the other characters.

No. Its a kids show. Yes older viewers will watch it & are obviously the most vocal about it on social media & forums etc. But despite what they think their voice is NOT the most important one. IS NOT.

Another dull Netflix Marvel show. Given up after 4 episodes.

I saw Geoffrey from Rainbow, others have said Mork, but I think my wife might ahve got closest when she said "Magpie"

I enjoyed the art in this a lot. My reaction to the stories was more varied, mostly lightweight introductory stuff, where I would have preferred something more complete and suitable substantial, considering this is a special (akin to an annual, in my mind). It's mostly not bad however. The only story, I think I disliked, was Death Man, as it just seemed a way of shoehorning in a bunch of characters in a kind of cross-over. (I suspect those that read the originals back in the day may have got a kick out of it, though, but it left me scratching my head, and a bit.)  That being said, the idea is interesting, and I'd be interested to see what they do with it, in future.

My favourite tales seemed to be the Misty portion, which unfortunately was the smallest. The Dracula one wasn't bad as a kind of introduction/catch up.

I agree the Misty stuff was best. Fate of the Fairy Hunter seemed like a nice one & done, Return of the Sentinels was a good introduction but like a lot of the content felt like a first episode rather than a complete story so if there isn't any more it might be a waste of time.

Was disappointed that there was a lot of stuff that didn't appear in either Scream or Misty, considering the wealth of material available. Loved the artwork in Fate of the Fairy Hunter, The Dracula Files & 13th Floor. Death-Man: The Gathering was the worst strip, a prologue really with loads of characters that were rushed introduced.

All in all I hope we have more issues.

I really liked every thing in the special. But most of them read more like pilots to revival then stand alone stories. Thirteenth Floor seems to be the only one coming back for sure. I really want to see more Death-Man: The Gathering and Fate of the Fairy Hunter. Those two really left me wanting.

Yes that's what I felt. It seemed more like a first issue rather than a special. If we don't get more then it will be nothing more than a curio piece.

Soooo without wading through this whole thread...  what's the current state of play with the TV series?

Hasn't been any news for a few weeks as far as I know.   The last news I've seen was the 2 concept pictures.
