Off Topic / Re: Life is ? because...

The abject terror has started to subside a little now and I'm starting to feel a little more chilled (though that might be the wine). I've got my uni interview in two weeks, so I'll wait to see how that goes before starting the serious planning.

Thanks for all the kind wishes though guys. Makes me feel all warm inside  :D

Thought I'd dig this thread out as I think it's most appropriate.

Found out the other day that Mrs CP is preggers. We've been together almost 7 years, are engaged (but not yet married) and as happy as any other couple.

But here's the rub. Money isn't great, I am hoping to go back to uni in September (when the sprog is due) and we are temporarily staying with my folks.

Mrs CP doesn't want to get rid of the child, and I don't either, but it's going to create a lot of problems.

So, to say I'm confused would be an understatement. I want kids, the timing is just crap.

Everywhere is cleaned out dude. Online and real world. The book is out of print, though according to one shop I spoke to, they should be printing a fresh batch some time soon.

Damn, I checked before and there was none.

Doesn't matter now as one of very own boarders picked up a copy and mailed it to me. Hoping it'll arrive tomorrow.

Cheers anyway, dude.

:D True, I could be like Commando Forces and having to consider an extension to accomodate the next purchase.

But I only have a small room. I think by the time I move out, I will have to consider falts based on the comic storage capacity...

A bit late to the party here, but among my Christmas loot was:

JD Case Files 6 & 7
SD Agency Files 2
Walking Dead Vols 2 & 3
Simon Pegg - Nerd Do Well
Kick Ass DVD
Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy

I also had to go out and procure Agency Files 1 as I couldn't start on the 2nd one. And while I was looking online, I accidentally also added Mechanismo and My Name is Death to my collection. It's starting to get out of hand.

My copy of this just arrived from Amazon this morning along with Judge Death Lives. Some great art and a nice little story that I haven't read for years. Have they ever tried to reintroduce the Robojudges since?

Oh and weirdly, Carlos Ezquerra gets a cred on the cover despite not being a lead artist, at the expense of someone who was...

Get as much experience as you possibly can. This year I managed to get some sessional work with the local drug and alcohol team which has gotten me the interview.

That's a worry! Drug and alcohol team experience relavant for teaching primary? Yikes!! Schools pretty rough round your way then?
;)

There are a lot of drug related issue round here, yeah. But I've been doing tobacco education with primary 6 and 7s (11-12 year olds).

I also am a resident of rutsville, though I am slowly climbing out the other side. I finished uni in 2008 with a degree in journalism, a couple of months before the economy collapsed. The media job market shrunk with it and lo and behold I am essentially unemployable now as a result.

After working in pubs for several years, and a year and half full-time after I graduated, I was on the brink of total mental collapse. I dreaded every day, broke down in tears several times and eventually threw it all in.

After that I had to join the dole queue, where I was treated like every other pleb there and struggled to find another job. After six months, I found something I could very loosely claim to be in my field and that's where I've been for the past three months.

However, I have decided that teaching is a better prospect career-wise and that's the route I'm heading down now. I've applied to do a PGDE in Primary Education and have my interview at Moray House in Edinburgh later this month.

If you plan on taking this route as well, take my advice. Get as much experience as you possibly can. Volunteer with your local scout troop, or try and get involved with a school in some capacity. I applied last year but was turned away because of lack of experience. This year I managed to get some sessional work with the local drug and alcohol team which has gotten me the interview.

But at the end of the day dude, life's too short. If you are losing the will to live, make the jump. Responsibilities are always a problem, but your family will want a healthy happy you, rather than a burnt out husk  :D

Our very own Greg M. has demonstrated simple human kindness by going out of his way to pick up a copy of Agency Files 01 and mailing it to me. What a legend!

I haven't spent long looking for Case Files 7 so I'm not too fussed about that. I'm sure I'll find it somewhere, it's Stront that's causing me problems. I've got 02 waiting to get read!

They probably are but I've checked FP in Edinburgh, A1 Comics near Glasgow, Waterstones, WH Smiths, Amazon etc and have still come up empty. It's doing my head in!
