Whu-? :o

That looks a bit tidier than the silver-grey Bamboo that I use. What does the price work out as in Pounds Sterling? Help me! I'm rubbish at maths!

Paging Jim Campbell, paging Jim Campbell - Jim, you recommended one of these to me a while back, price tag circa £50. Was this it, or would yo recommend this one? I can't find that previous thread, like a loser!

Cheers

That's the A6 Bamboo, isn't it? At that price (£46 in GBP, HdE), I wouldn't have thought you could really go wrong. If you find A6 a bit small and wanted to trade up to the A5, I'd have thought you could eBay this for most of the original purchase price and get yourself the larger one further down the line.

That said, the difference between mouse -> A6 tablet is so big that by comparison the difference between A6 -> A5 tablet is negligible.

Dunno if that helps ...

Cheers!

Jim

I've got that one. It's fine and well worth €49.95. The pen's a bit lightweight but overall the feel of the pen on the tablet and the pressure sensitivity is fine as far as I'm concerned. When I get a bigger screen to plug into my Macbook I'll probably upgrade to an A5 tablet, but till then this is perfectly acceptable. AND CHEAP!

My christmas present to myself is sorted out. Good old Aldi.

Cheers Jim!

[runs off to look for remedial mathematics textbook]

Not sure if this would be a significantly better unit than the silver Bamboo tablet I'm using right now - I find that almost impossible to actually draw with, but it's great for colouring and fudging stuff in Photoshop with.

Are or were these things only on offer for one day in Ireland only ?Looks like it because theres no mention of these on Aldi UK webpage.

I just had a thought that Wacoms are inspired by the Etch A sketch if anyone remembers them. There is definately a similarity in principle at least.

This might be totally obvious but it never crossed my mind before.

Yup, they're available on the mainland too:

Similar prices can be found on Play.com (free shipping), and Ebuyer which does free shipping on orders over £50.

PLAY http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=PCSH&searchstring=wacom&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0 (http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=PCSH&searchstring=wacom&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0)

EBUYER http://www.ebuyer.com/search?limit=50&store=4&cat=138&subcat=1427&sort=pricelow&page=1 (http://www.ebuyer.com/search?limit=50&store=4&cat=138&subcat=1427&sort=pricelow&page=1)

The black Bamboos are the new model, the white are the old model. I'd be wary of ordering out of stock items from Play as they may never get new stock in (but they prob will).

Think this will be good to get for when Mini-bolt goes to Uni.

Just a thought but would one of these be OK for my (nearly) five year old too doodle with?

vzzbux,
I'd go with a Trust rather than a Wacom in that case, as they're much cheaper, and adequate for a five-year-old.

Perhaps I should mention that tablet pens (at least in the case of Wacom), have small detachable nibs, and may not be constructed with the very young in mind.

I briefly owned a Trust graphics tablet. It cost me £50 and was A4 size!

It was pretty cheaply made, I have to say, and ended up going back to the shop because of a nsty dent in the drawing surface. In reflection, it wasn't that nice a tablet to use, but would suit a wee one if they wanted to play about with drawing on the computer.
