I've also seen some very nice looking video shot where they've used a 35mm adaptor to mount a 35mm lens which projects onto a vibrating ground glass plate and the video camera lens records that.

Sounds very odd, but the resulting images look more film like because of the shallower DOF which you rarely see on video cameras because of the small sensor size.

also the fact that the spinning glass adds a certain motion blur to the image, like film. I personally think the whole shallow focus thing is overplayed and overused.
