Help! / Re: Diagnose computer fault?.........

It's at times like those that I feel like going and living by subsistence farming in a log-cabin in some remote locale, totally off the grid.

But then...

Whilst it may be just in need of a System Clean-Up and a Defrag, it sounds like a virus to me (unless you have a particularly low-end comp).

Yes - it's not as if the police might abuse their power by shooting innocent electricians in the head or arresting aging hecklers at Labour party conferences in order to 'prevent terrorism', is it?

Gosh darnit, why not give 'em more power?  Good on ya, Tony!

Oooh!

Looks good.

I think it's a terribly bad idea to have one person edit both the weekly and the Meg.

It'll all end in disaster, I tells ye!  Disaster and doom!

Prog / Re: prog 1470: Carnival

Oh - that explains the dodgy dialogue of "ignore him" when it looked like he hadn't said anything - I thought Johnny was being a bit pre-emptive there.

Well spotted, Jimbo - that passed me by completely.

Pah!  What does he know - he's only the writer!

that nasty hint that it's Jenny doing the screaming

:: "I took it as a nasty hint that it was Ravne doing the screaming."

So did I (that it was Ravne) - but I think I was wrong - it makes more sense that it would be the real Jenny (presuming that Ravne's screams would be a bit deeper in pitch and thus easier to distinguish).

Am I the only person left who enjoys Slaine?

Cover
Another excellent Langley cover to go into the Books Of Invasions cover collection.  Ukko as the buck-toothed circus ringmaster is excellent.  (I'd have preferred a full cover pic of Estella - but there's still time, Thargnanimous - make it happen!)

Nerve Centre
A teaser image for The 86ers - ah cannae wait - cos that looks like Rafe 'n' Gabe making a welcome return to the prog.

Judge Dredd: Your Beating Heart
The investigation continues apace.  I enjoyed it last week, and this just takes us further along with it's great script and excellent (if gory) art.

Caballistics, Inc.: Changelings
Aieee!  Now we know where Ravne got his name from!  Is Dom Reardon getting more and more minimalist?  Those ARE fairies - but they look very spikey.  Yeesh - I have to wait a whole 7 days to find out more.

Slaine: Carnival
The re-introduction of Slaine, a big fight, drinks in the pub, the domestic life of the carnival and then some circus tricks and a cliffhanger - this certainly packs a lot in, whilst seeminly only toying around the edges of the plot.  It's a scene-setter, essentially, with self-referencing jokes and artistic asides (such as Slaine sneaking a peek between Skathan's legs, the sex-starved maniac).

The Ten Seconders: The American Dream
MACH appears to have jets built into his back, so each of the gods is being distinguished in some way in terms of their powers.  The action ramps back up in this episode.  There's a little bit of clumsy, needless exposition from the girl, explaining to us what the disciples are, when really we could have been left to just accept it as part of this twisted world.

Still, I'm really enjoying this new thrill and can't wait to find out more.

Strontium Dog: A Shaggy Dog Story
Accomplished art and script - but not really knocking my socks off.  The electronux and the jar are pretty funny as they go - and if this is the weekly's comedy strip, I prefer it to Bec & Kawl, Lobster Random or Samantha Slade - but then I'd just as easily go for some Future Shocks, to be honest.

Summary
Another strong line-up of thrills, and I'd sort them top to bottom: The Ten Seconders, Cabs, Slaine, Dredd and Stront (although there's not much between the first four at all.)

"when it sucks, it sucks donkeys. And this tale is a donkey"

I had this brief mental image of a ronin donkey sucking itself off.
