Anyone else seen this yet...?

Had my reservations, but it looks pretty darn good.

Nice trailer, good effects and street scenes but I was hoping to see something more. Well 6 months til it hits the screens.

I normally hate Wiki Will but that looks quite good on a first glance

That type of situation that he has fouynd himself in would appear to be a blessing as well as a curse.

If this movie has zombies in it, then I don't think Will Smith's character would find them much of a problem.
'
It';s only when they become organised and start working agaisn't the individual that they stater to become a challenge.

A solid obstacle that has to be delt with.

sounds like you speak from experience there Thryllseeker. Which part of Australia did you say you live in?

So, is that a remake of The Omega Man, or something else?  Reminds me a little of 'The Quiet Earth', an excellent NZ movie with a similar theme (only, no Will Smith, no CGI, but NZ looks pretty empty anyway)

It's an adaption of the Book, I Am Legend.

Which, I guess, The Omega Man and The Last Man on Earth were adaptions of as well.

So this is the 3rd attempt at adapting this story for the big screen.

It's about a world over run by Vampires and the last human trying to survive.

It's technically the birth place of the traditional Zombie story, though Zombies in the brain and flesh eating variety didn't exist when the book was written, so Vampires were used instead.

Haven't you ever felt like all the people around you are just like those zombies.

Other people in my life have only ever been glorified zombies.

What is a zombie?

Just a person of no use to you, who's out to eat your brains.

Only ever unintelligebly getting in my way.

That thing I said about the blessing and the curse. Is that Neville ( Will Smith.) can live like King with the whole of New York to himself, if he can handle the undead.

He's probably not that far removed from what the real world is. Except there is no one this character can turn to.

They're not all braindead in the story.

The story is super awesome, and nicely bleak... one reason why touchy-feely Will staring in it worrys me a little.

He does look like he's having a ball though.

Taking a swing at golf standing on the aft section of jet plane.....

Cleaning up central park.....

Driving fancy red sports car through semi-desrted streets.....

Well, i f it stays *fairly* true to the book's original sentiments it might be worth a looksee.

With no new Bond to look forward to at the end of this year let's hope it's a cut above the usual dreary Xmas time multiplex filling dross.

that does look quite good, I am Legend is one of the only old books(you know, those Masterwoks type ones) I've ever read and it blew me away.  So much impact fpr such alittle story.

I have no great objections to another version, having seen two so far, I'm happy to see another go at it.

"one reason why touchy-feely Will staring in it worrys me a little."

Yeah, Will Smith, nice guy, funny, all the rest of it, but I want someone more serious at my end of the world party.

*** WATCHES TRAILER ***

Then again, having just seen the trailer, he sounds serious and hasn't made a single quip, so who knows.

Doesn't seem to me much story in the trailer, there's terrorists (always with the terrorists), everyone dies for some reason and there's some sort of weirdoes luking about. Though the family is in there.  So, I'd say another loose reworking, which I have no problem with.

But it all looks a bit dull to be honest, and a few explosions aren't going to help.  It sort of screams Big Blockbuster War of the Worlds class shite played low to raise expectations.     Still, if I get any positive feedback at all, I'll be up for it :)  I can watch expensive B-Movies.

I always love to be proved wrong about these things, but to be honest, after years of raised expectations and endless dissapointment by arsehole movie studios and their steaming product, I'm pretty damn cynical.

Hey, who knows, might be great.  I do know I can remember fuck all about 'I, Robot' though and that's getting a sequal.
