Abnett is good at ambiguous endings, isn't he? Like that time he finished Sinister Dexter.

Too much Ro-Busters and lunatic polemic drives Savage down for me.

Can Rogue's disco dancing skillz save him from Gene the Hackman's fist-blades?

Kingdom's not perfect, mind you. By the time we got into space it all got a bit gradient fill. His wife was thrown aside as so much background dressing as we jumped quickly from scenario to scenario. The end is very much an admission that it could just go on and on.

But those are all the worst bits. Rogue has a longer list of those, and the episodic nature means a modern view of it is usually negative.Tis dated, so it is. Tonally awkward. But with great art.

Oh, there's that as well. I went looking for FP in Glasgow in Buchanan St, but they've moved, and there's a sweet shop in their old premises. I tracked them down today. Embarrassingly they didn't have this week's 2000AD, which I had to get from Smith's along the road.

I did read the first three or four trades- and still have them- but they were equally as tedious as the people who read them, I thought.

Sorry, but I just took you exactly at these words I've quoted. And I think your understanding of the word bigot is particularly narrow, given the actual dictionary definition. But, clearly we disagree, so we should move on. Happy to discuss further on a different thread, if you wish.

Is it "bigoted" to dislike a certain type of wanker? Well, no I don't think so- and indeed, diminishes the meaning of the word. You should try harder to do better.

Saying that anyone who enjoyed Sandman is a wanker is bigoted, yes. Review your comments and the dictionary and you'll see that I'm using my words correctly.

They've only gone and turned Forbidden Planet into a sweet shop!

Just love Insurrection. It’s in my top three all time Megazine thrills. But it’s not quite at the level of Nemesis The Warlock.

What Magnetica said. Nemesis the Warlock.

Maybe kinda ignoring the actual words in my post there. I said that Nixon had an interesting arc. So we agree? I don't have access to my spreadsheets at the moment but surely there's no need for me to wheel out data that proves my point about even gender distribution in the comic. It's obviously apparent. A rare case of an objective point.

One thing about Halo and Zenith is there's no bloat. Each book tells us a story, each moves the plot forward in a meaningful way. I'd put Nemesis on the cusp as it goes on long enough that it starts to run out of steam.

Dante has bloat, within a greater arc of cohesion. Maybe using the word bloat is unfair, because sometimes the structure of something is more episodic than arcing (original Star Trek being episodic, for example), and it doesn't necessarily make it bloaty. An episodic nature, though, gives room for damp squibs in amongst the Tribbles. Dante Goes to Britain and Dante Goes to America are both a bit squibish.

Lawless is good, but can suffer from rent-a-baddy silliness. I'm thinking of the train attack. Anderson is anything but consistent. Between Hour of the Wolf and Shamballa there's an entire raft of meh (with the paradise island of Triad floating in the middle).

Anything that's gone on as long as Stront (or Red Seas, or SinDex), by the very nature of things, is bound to have ups and downs, though. My main issue with SD is not that's it's ever been truly awful, but that quite a few of the shaggy dog tales just tread water. Given the abundant love for it, though, I'm not seeing a thrill that'll defeat it in this competition. Unless you all take a vacation and let me do all the voting. No?
