Games / Minecraft - Xbox 360 Arcade release
13 May, 2012, 11:27:01 PM
Yep, more gaming stuff from me.  Sorry, I do love my games.

So, anyone got it? Like it?  It's a bit pricey at 1600 points, but the kids begged and pleaded, so I got it.

It's pared down compared to the PC version, but still great fun! Dig, build, craft, avoid the creatures that come out at night etc etc.  one major plus side is the ease at which you can do local or online multiplayer.  My daughters and I have been busy all afternoon building mini-fortresses, and creating massive mines to find ores etc.

All great fun!  So what are your impressions?

Games / Nintendo 3DS - anyone got one?
13 May, 2012, 11:19:40 PM
I love my 3DS! It's a great pice of kit.  I've been a fan of 3D gaming ever since that Tomytronic binoculars Tron rip-off, so getting this was a no-brainer. The 3D effect makes everyone I show it to do a double-take.  It's quite something!

Although the AAA titles are a little sparse, there's good stuff to be had, like StarFox, Resi Evil, Kid Icarus and Ghost Recon (that last is a surprisingly good strategy title!).

What really impresses me though are the things it came pre-loaded with, and the stuff that came free via the Nintendo eshop. The Streetpass Quest works like a dream, going on a quest with avatars of 3DS users you pass in the street.  Also, the augmented reality card and games are quite an eye-opener.  You also get the free video app which shows cartoon/animation shorts, and adverts for upcoming 3D cinema releases etc.

Perhaps my favourites are Letterbox (free) and Colors 3D (about a fiver from the eshop). My online gaming chums and I have spent many a happy hour doing 3D scribbles and paintings, and then mailing them to each other via Letterbox.

In fact, if anyone is interested, I did my own version of Dredd and the Big Meg in 3D, and also 3D-ified that classic Bolland Dark Judges 2000AD cover.  If you have a 3DS give me a shout and we can exchange Friend Codes!

So yeah, anyone got one?  What are your impressions?

Howdy folks! I couldn't find a thread discussing the clothing side of 2000AD merchandise - sorry if here's one already!

I was looking at the Shop earlier today, and besides the new Dark Judges stuff, it looked quite sparse.  I was hoping to replace my RT biochip beanie, which is getting very old, stretched and bobbled.  Not a beanie in sight though! I guess they didn't sell well?  I did have Stront beanie too, until someone asked my why I had a Scooby Doo hat on...

Anyway, I'm curious about what 2000AD clothing you wear, if not why not, and also any suggestions for the 2000AD store.

For example, is there a killer bit of 2000AD art you'd love on a tshirt?  Would you prefer something more subtle, such as the lastexittonowhere film tees?  I thought a tshirt advertising Otto Sump products, or the Palais De Boing might make nice spotters tees.  Maybe the Nort or Souther logos, akin to Alliance or Horde on WoW?

What are your thoughts?

Howdy folks. I couldn't find an 'introductions' thread, so this'll have to do.  I'm 39, and have been a 2000AD fan since I was about 11. I used to spend hours and hours drawing and painting Dredd - my bedroom walls were festooned with my efforts.  Dillon and Bolland were my fave artists at the time. I even painted Dredd on The underside of my skateboard!  If I can dig out an old pic of it, i will post it here somewhere. I'm currently loving Henry Flints work!

Anyway, like an idiot I was influenced by a woman when in my twenties, who considered comics 'childish' so had a break from 2000AD for a bit then. My present partner is much more forgiving, being a gamer and XMen fan, but after me leaving progs on every surface she got pissed off and made me cancel my subscription.

Hurrah for digital downloads! Thanks to these I'm now back into 2000AD and loving it.  My partner is still trying to persuade me to sling the boxes of old progs on top of our wardrobe, but she's a lot happier now my new progs are limited to a folder on my PC!!!

I need to get some back progs though - I've come into the whole Chaos thing halfway through, and it looks like I need to go all the way back to PJ escaping the cubes.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling post - in a nutshell, 39, and back in the 2000AD fold!
