This was a popular one in the eighties...used in the Last Crusade.

A brief history of the tank down there too.

To be really boring thats a great hull for getting a low profile to engage the enemy.
Having lived in tanks and having 1st hand experience of how little room you have I'm always amazed that the Merkava can also carry 8 infantrymen.
The revolving 10 round mag also sounds like being the loader is a cushy job.

Achtung panzer is indeed a great site, panzers and tanks in general being endlessly fascinating, closely followed by early Cold War US aircraft.

But you can keep your modern tanks, nothing beats the Panther for sheer coolness.

Dunno if its still there but there used to be a Jagdpanther in the Imperial War Museum. One side was cut away so you could get a keek inside. The other side had a neat 3 inch hole that looked as if it had been melted through the armour. I still wonder if that was the one that got it...

Anyway, how come we invented the bloody things yet all the ones we made in WWII look a bit half arsed?

I met a bloke once who had a working Sherman, he told me that he wasn't allowed to take it on the motorway but he did have one of those big WWII American half-tracks that he was allowed to, so that kind of made up for it. Lucky git.

becuase the British military establishment never really liked or understood tank warfare, despite guys like JFC Fuller pretty much outlining the concepts of Blitzkrieg in advance of WWII. It wasn't dashing like cavalry and they kept trying to fit it into an infantry support role, never really giving them full guns or armour - Prior to WWII British tanks were basically just a big armoured lump with a machinegun which was just about good enough to put down an unarmed rebellion by the natives in fuzzy-wuzzy land.

The Germans, on the other hand, paid a lot of attention to Fuller.

There's only one real choice:

Otherwise know as 'Tommy-cookers'

Tom Clancy's got a tank in his garden... touch of class that.

Oh, and of course the various experiments in ridiculous multi-turret design...http://www.arthurwyatt.co.uk/images/photos/bov/bov04.jpg">

They were probably complete death traps but I always thought it had a certain style to go to war in a Rolls Royce...http://www.tankmuseum.co.uk/news/images/new-images/image009.jpg">

I like how the electrical system of the entire tank can be neatly summed up in one page and a single not too complex diagram.

Cool! Logan, you're more than welcome as I have no idea how to fix one of these babies when it breaks down. It could be quite a while before any of this happens though. Thanks guys, I'll keep ya posted. xTGx
