« on: 19 November, 2016, 12:21:29 PM »
holy shit I'm an old Metalicca tragic from back in the day but haven't realy had tiime for them since Black Album but god dambn if this new ione isn't a return to form.
I'm a gonna buy it first chance i get monday (I'm old school and need it on CD none of this Itunes crap) It looks like the whole album is on YouTube official with a film clip for each song I gotta say Spit out the Bone is the stand out for me so far Hetfields dropped that crappy country and western twang he was insisting on and this could almost be off Justice.  Hammet is blazing it up and even Lars has a bit of his fire back
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m46Z0-HXySo  cool clip too.

Been a long time since I banged my head to anything this has got me going though gonna have a sore neck tommorow wish i still had my hair :)

Help! / Need to upgrade grapihics card, help please
« on: 25 July, 2016, 01:51:02 PM »
Okay I stupidly purchased Total War Warhammer the other day on steam and after being a complete noob and spending 2 days trying to get it to work I discovered my graphics card isn't Direct X11 compatible (I know pretty dumb error).
I currently have a Nvidia GTX280, main processor is a I7 860 2.8GHZ, running Windows 7 Premium.  I only really want to upgrade my Graphics card as I don't really have much dosh at the moment, I want to spend about A$100 - 150 I can see a couple of GTX750's about that price but being a PC luddite (I'm generally more a console gamer to avoid these issues) I'm not really sure how compatible it'll be with my computer, I do know my I7 is a 1st gen its about 6 or so years old so it runs on the old style pin set up, will I de able to just pull out my GTX280 and put in a GTX750 easily?
I know the GTX750 is Direct X11 compatible so I will be able to run Warhammer but do you think it'll run alright without also having to upgrade the processor (which would also mean a new Motherboard!!)

Any help from someone more PC knowledgeable than me would be greatly appreciated.

WOW, never read these in original form but have heard a lot about it around here and various other places and am a big The Original Writer fan so while down in Perth this week end saw these three Hardcovers on the shelves and thought I'd give em a whirl.  Expensive but absolutely lovely packages I'm generally not a fan of Hardcover GN's but it just seems to suit this epic story I doubt floppies would've been able to contain the epicness on display.
Over 300 or so pages Moore crafts possibly the best Super hero tale I've ever read (I think this is better than Watchmen), so much story and detail packed into so few pages if one of the modern big hitters was writing this we'd be getting at least 1000+ pages to get the same story across and it'd still only have half the impact.
I love how it starts out all goofy and 50's and just goes full boar down the rabbit hole ending with probably the most horrible brutal superhero showdown ever put on paper.  I know he's played the trick several times since but the all you remember is a lie aspect of the story is brilliantly revealed without even betraying the original silly 4 colour the original title was, all those old stories are still there just not quite how you remember.  Holy shit is Kid Miracleman one of the most f^&ked up villains ever.  The art is brilliant all through (this is the coloured stuff but it has a lot of the original B&W art at the back which looks tasty too and definitely hasn't been ruined by colouring it) and some of those parts after bad Johnny gets out again are some of the most horrifying things I've ever seen, this is how helpless we'd be if beings of this power got loose in our world, I've always wondered why peoples heads and bodies don't explode when superman gives em a punch a being of such immense power even slightly angry would just pulverise any normal flesh bag human, Batman V Superman looking at this there is no fight.  This is violent stuff but unlike any most other super hero stuff this violence has extreme consequences.  KM's end is also brilliant and when the kid starts blubbing after bad Johnny got out again and MM is all Good kid Johnny good kid sklutch OMG near tears in my eye's.
I started to get a bit confused as the QYs and Warpsmith stuff started to get introduced but it all makes sense in the end and the confusion seems purposeful to the story telling, MM doesn't know WTF is going on why should we.
Seems to wrap up completely in the Olympus arc and what a wrap up, there he is changed the world completely new gods arisen and everyone with the chance to be a god, Utopia arisen but still leaves you feeling what you just witnessed was wrong, we have this Utopia enjoy it if you don't like it too bad there is no other choice.  And is that the point there is NO OTHER CHOICE!!  no choice at all for anyone just what the Supermen decided for us all, god my brain is fried from this I still cant decide if what he did was right or wrong is MM a saviour or just the most successful dictator ever to live?

So as that completely blew my mind is the follow up Gaiman stuff worth a read and add anything useful to the story or best to leave it where it is?

Film & TV / Iron Man 3 review, any spoilers blacked out please
« on: 27 April, 2013, 03:38:05 PM »
Mulled it over for a day and definitely better that the second one still unsure against the first (one of my fav Marvel movies ever).  has the best end game of any of the others really like the use of the multiple Iron Man suits and loved the way Tony discarded damaged ones in favour of undamaged ones, Pearce would cut a leg of and Tony would just drop out the back into another suit, very cool visual.  Though extremis was a bit under used and never really had a defined set of powers WTF with Pearce spitting fire and then not using it in the final battle?
The FX as in all blockbusters these days is nothing short of spectacular, wonderful use of CG mixed with practical as it should be. Roll on the rest of Phase 2.  Im really interested to see what they do with Guardians of the Galaxy is it stil going to be animated?

Film & TV / Fringe The End (Black out spoilers)
« on: 21 January, 2013, 01:41:11 PM »
Well that has got to be one of the most satisfying ends to a SciFi series in a long time, I have absolutly loved every season of Fringe from when it started out as a X-Files rip off as it delveloped and blew through 3 magnificent Arc plots through its run.  Im gonna miss you Fringe and dont think anything currently running can take its place.  Congratulations to Fox for finally seeing a series through even though last couple of season ratings were very low (maybe it had a big oversease audience but you certainly cant find it on any OZ channels.).  Who new that kid from Dawsons Creek coupld put in such a good performance and Noble deserves Emmy's for Walter Bishop in all forms truelly one of the best mad scientists created today.

Stand up.....slow.......clap.......

Games / Battlefield 3
« on: 26 October, 2011, 01:10:22 PM »
some one in oz broke the embargo so i was able to pick this up today, looks a million times better than the demo and even better when you put the hi-res pack on your Hard Disk (on the Xbox vewrsion anyway).  That classic Battlefield gameplay with a state of the art engine, only played Multiplayer so far so no comment on the single player campaign.  level 3 in multi at the moment really enjoying the new support class it was the Medic In BC2 but now he drops the ammo for your squad, his guns pretty shitty on the move but lethal when you drop the Bi-pod (as it should be, always thought the LMG's were a bit too like the assault rifles in BC2).  It calls to me now, back to the front!

Games / Battlefield 3 Open Beta starts today 29/9
« on: 29 September, 2011, 04:32:34 AM »
One level, full multiplayer demo/open beta.  The Paris map.  More details when i get home tonight and start playing, my housemate is under instructions to download today.  Look for GrimDarksock or BushNinja101 (my Live name). Might have to also get this on the PC to fully appreciate the 64 player battles as restricted on consoles to 24 (damn Xbox Live, i bet the PS3 version could go the bigger battles if they wanted to).
comes out 28/10 the day before my Birthday whoo!  our poxy state goverment has shifted the traditional Queens Birthday holiday (would've been 3/10) to Friday 28/10. Our shops dont open on Public Holidays!!!! F U governement.
how good does this look, how many god damn tanks, choppers, apc's and Jets are on this map!!!  looks like a full on war. (this isn't the map released for Demo they're doing the Paris Map which runs from through the streets to the underground railway to t an open square.)

um i tried to get onto the site yesterday from my home computer and i get a perminent banning message for spamming?  now i can get onto the site from my work computer so obviously something wrong with my home computer.  I have paid for McAffee protection and thats not picked anything odd up on its scans (but it has let me down before and let in a particulalrly nasty thingy).

The last couple of days my computer has ocasionally listed up a IP conflict message (it says my computers IP is conlicting with another device same address?)  I have to re-set my modem to get online.  As a bit of a ludite should i be really worried about this? is this related to my banning?  is some f*&ker stealing all my details?  anyone with some computer knowledge able to help?

Thanks Regards

found this when i was trawling about, very actiony follow up to Aliens would've liked to see Cameron do it.  All about Hicks and Bishop, Ripley spends most of it in a coma (and gets sent off in a Cryotube lifeboat before the final act).  Theres more background regards The Company and US military complex and the state of the world that Aliens was set in.  I've read the Wooden world one too and while some of it survived to become Alien 3 it would've been much better if they used this one, i guess it would've cost too much to make.
Have a read let me know what you think

anyone got anymore old scripts can be quitre enetrtaining to read what could've been.
