My own tribute, not particularly good I'm afraid. Quick headsketches across little notes like I used to watch him squirrel away at endlessly at cons, like what would fall out of your envelopes when he sent you comics, he was brimming with these little square drawings and they were like his creativity really. Boundless, endless. And he would always just give them away for nothing, like his time. I'd amass so much of them but I kept each one - they're priceless to me. I'll keep these too.

That is. Majestic.

I think that and him actually being Kid Knee in SD fan film were his most prized things. The glee that radiated from him when he spoke about them was almost a palpable force.

Well, this is beautiful. This is really lovely... Pete, reading through that I went "oh I'm not sure about this" to being in floods of tears in less than a minute. You lovely people.

As someone who has been in dark places there are two problems ith the 'just talk to someone':

1. Often in this situation you don't have anyone you can talk to.

Yes you do. Us. Anyone. Don't ever think this, not to diminish your experience Scrotnig but that's never true.

2. Even if you do, they often don't want to be burdened with your problems. They may well lend a sympathetic ear for ten minutes but you will soon find they don;t want to know and will start avoiding you.

Also - superficially yes, it's difficult if anyone just rings you and goes "I'M FEELING TERRIBLE"

but can I tell you guys, Bolt was this for me. He put up with so much of my raging and self-flagellating and anger and sorrow and everything. He listened to it all, it meant the world and it always will and I don't mind who you are or why, do the same. Give Shark a buzz, give me a buzz, give anyone saying "just talk to me" a buzz, give the Samaritans a buzz and I guarantee you:

1 - You'll be heard
2 - I can't guarantee anything else but the first one is valid, it really is.

Frankly I'm glad this thread has taken this turn. It's extremely important to talk about how you feel. I feel terrible. How are you?

This is a wonderful idea guys - if it's okay I'd like to share some of them on the FutureQuake FB page as well. I want to draw something and I did try but it all hurts so perhaps later along in the month.

Not sure if this needs it's own new thread but if you could share this wherever you can think it needs to go:

The family of our beloved Bolt have asked me to share a JustGiving page for his funeral.

https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rememberdave

Also - and I cannot emphasise this enough - don't be afraid to reach out if you're in pain and forgive yourself always. You are not alone ❤

Target reached.

Deeply, deeply moved but not at all surprised by the speed of it.

I didn't know either and I feel like I'll be getting over the shock of it for the rest of my life but I can tell you this emphatically - you are not alone. Please reach out, please tell the people in your life how you feel - it hurts, it's awkward, it may not seem like it makes much of a difference at first but it does.

Please don't delay, if you're reading this reach out right now, tell someone you're in pain and they WILL listen. You deserve to be forgiven, you deserve to be loved and you always will be and you always are. I don't want to lose anyone else to this.

Hi again everyone.

The outpouring of overwhelming nice words about Bolt both here and over the socials is the one positive thing to have happened in the last 24 hours - I don't have many words to add but I wanted to come back here, where we likely first met, and say that without his boundless support, guidance and patience I wouldn't be doing what I love for a job or be half the person I might be and many hundreds of fledgling comic folks wouldn't be either. I wouldn't be surrounded by kind and creative people. I wouldn't have had anyone to talk to when that horrible news came yesterday. But I did and I do and I owe it to him and I was lucky enough to drunkenly (and soberly) tell him how much he meant to me many times so I think he had an inkling.

If you've people in your lives who sound like they've done that for you then please let them know too, sooner rather than later. None of you are islands, reach out if you feel you can and forgive yourselves always, for everything. <3

HERE ARE THE WINNERS

http://www.comicon.com/2020/02/10/2000-ad-art-stars-winners-announced/

Winner: Federico Arevalo

Runner-up: David Timoney

Runner-up: Uwe De Witt

For more details click the link above - also, after eight years of the comp I'm sad to announce that I'm stepping down. I'll not mention it on the social media but it started here so it's only right to be honest with you all. Thanks for all your support, your votes in the old days, and for your unfettered passion which I sincerely appreciate. It was the art comp which first drew me to the forum way back in the mid noughties (!) and it was the reason I stayed.

Cheers everyone - you can find me as owenwattsdraws on Insta/Twitter - CrazyFoxMachine is no more.
