I'm at a loss for something to post today, so in the spirit of contrived space filling I've taken an old idea from 2000ad (recently revived for prog 2003) in which I get you all to name your favourite 2K prog cover whilst giving a few reasons why you like it, and why you think that anyone apart from yourself would be the slightest bit interested in your opinion.

I'm going for prog 473 by Jim McCarthy (I always thought it was Brendan) closely, if not followed alongside by prog 552 by John Higgins. I like them because they are likable. Whilst I'm at it, I'd like to predict (probably unsuccessfully) that I don't think any prog this year will beat prog 1323's Moloch cover.

Also I would be grateful if you could all make a small monetary contribution towards some "old rope" I have my eye on at the moment.

Karne the short-changer.

I love this cover dearly. I dont know why. I just have fond memories of being young and wanting to drop perps (worryingly)...http://www.2000adonline.com/index.php3?zone=covers&page=progsimage&Image=745&choice=&Comic=2000ad&FirstProg=701&LastProg=750&MaxProg=1323">

Been reading some of the real early Dredd's and some of them just don't sit right. By that i mean in an artisic way - whether it's a case of the artists weren't familiar with the strip, were quite new to the game or that the look of the city/uniforms/ devices weren't established at that point. The question is: What if the artists of today were to take the script and draw them in their own way? Good or crap idea?
And could it be done?
And if it could what do reckon could do with a makeover?
The perspective on that chairs all wrong

Three suggestions:

The "Dredd - Dead?" cover from the Apocalypse War (can't remember the number).

Or, the one with the words "Respect the Badge, Fear the Gun, Dredd the Man!" (dunno that number either, but it should've been the film's tag line)

I also remember a cover with the line "Every Dog has his day - Feral's day is coming".

Gotta be Prog #85, I remember scrambling through the pages to find that final Cursed Earth episode, what a powerful cover and with that "important" news within announcement, anything could've been within those pages!!!!

I think I was at the newsagent that Saturday morning for around 6am!!!

That cover inspired my own artwork years later (1985) see link

the zenith counting the costs cover from prog 670

Your King will also go for Prog 85, with the tattered Dredd on the cover.

It was the first 2000AD I ever bought and I was fascinated by that cover art.

True quality.
