...a first person resident evil 7?

For a series that was on its way out, after the mediocre 5 and the actively-rubbish 6, a leap into VR might be the saving of it.

I'm not sure about resi going first person so will try the demo tonight. 6 was utter pish though so it did need either a change or retirement.

Spidey looks intersting.

Another E3, another trailer for The Last Guardian. Anyone believe it'll happen this year?

Watched the MS conference and a bunch of other trailers separately, lots of good things to get excited about.

The absolute highlight for me was seeing more Mass Effect Andromeda. I know they didn't show very much but it was one of the few trailers that had me making little excited noises while I watched. Love Mass Effect, really want this.

Other highlights - We Happy Few looks brilliant, Dead Rising 4 will be a riot (and my wee bro is working on it so was nice to see it getting some cheers!), Inside (although the trailer itself didn't show much, some gameplay videos were released and it looks like another Limbo, which is a great thing) and Recore looks to have a lot of character and some fun ideas so is definitely on my watchlist.

Have to say, that being a huge Gears of War nut (and already having 4 pre-ordered) I thought the section they showed of that was a bit underwhelming. The lead character seems very bland and the whole demo was very heavily scripted and a bit dull. Hopefully the main game has more opportunity for the kind of frenzied madness that makes those games so intense, the environmental effects did look very cool and could go a long way to making fights really unpredictable, so here's hoping.

Sea of Thieves looks like it could be fun with the right players, so that'll be dependent on my mates getting it too! Thought Scalebound looked a bit ropey, and that was one I'd been really curious about. Early days hopefully, just looked a bit messy.

Prey was a nice surprise, thought that was buried. I did like the original so this could be cool (shame to see the bounty hunter in space angle ditched though).

Oh and Titanfall 2 will be a day one purchase for me, first game was one of the few multiplayer games that I got really hooked on and this time there's single player so that's nice. They set up a really cool universe but then didn't explain anything, so will be good to go a bit deeper into that.

Oh, and I'm curious about Watchdogs 2, because I seem to be one of the few people who thought the first one was actually pretty good fun.

Also the cross-platform play and play anywhere initiatives Microsoft announced are very cool, and I'll be getting that Project Scorpio for sure.

I know we all heard about Horizon before E3 2016 but another gameplay confirmed that for me it's the biggest upcoming release (with exeption of ME: Andromeda).

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rPxiXXxftE

To me this looks absolutely amazing. Like a culmination of the previous games before it. Freedom from Zelda 1, RPG elements from Zelda 2, puzzle elements from Skyward Sword and so on.

Seems like it has tons of stuff to do, that can be done in several different ways, in a world that can be interacted with in even more ways. I'v seen gameplay with everything from using the shield as a snowboard, using logs to traverse a river to push boulders down on enemies. Every element seems to have a use. The developers has said that night and day even plays into how hot or cold it'll be. Perhaps leading to that during night a slope will be covered in snow, but not during the day.

One cool thing I saw someone do was cutting down a smaller tree. The tree fell to pieces and one branch blew away with the wind, through a fire place. The branch caught fire and started a massive grass fire that caused massive damage to a nearby enemy camp.

Think I might even get a wolf Link amibo as well, which can be used in the game to call it in as support (with the heart stats crossing over from a Twillight princess save).

Before then, I'll probably give Last guardian a go. Which also looks really cool :)

The Zelda games are generally really good. They've become very formulaic over the years though and the series has been in need of a kick up the arse*. Looks like this could be it.

*Having said that, the last proper new Zelda game - A Link Between Worlds, is arguably the best of the lot (it's certainly up there) having perfected and streamlined the 'Link to the Past' style that the games have been following for a couple of decades.

It's funny - I've been playing video games for over 35 years - and I've never so much as looked at a console Zelda game.

This is as close as I got back in the day...

Saying that, I only owned an NES when they were first released - so my exposure to Nintendo has been somewhat limited!

Watch Dogs 2 looked like it could be entertaining as long as they get rid of the clunkiness that seemed to plague the demo.

Resident Evil 7 is what I have been waiting for as an excuse to get excited for VR.
