Frank Cho drawing Anderson seems pretty obvious.

Just finished a re-read of Liberty Meadows and Frank Cho references Dredd a couple of times which I'd forgotten. Think he'd have a fun idea for the comic. Or as you say we could just get TnA Anderson strip.

I'd Love to get Paul Cornell back in the Prog (or at least under Tharg I think he's only worked in the Megazine?).

Ryan Sook would be great as well.

The dream one at the moment is Matt Wagner writing and drawing something that'd be brilliant.

Ask me tomorrow I'll have a completely different list!

Uh some more about these 'Dark' titles. Headline I guess here is Abnett and Lanning on Resurrection Man with art by Fernando Dagnino. Who a quick search reveals looks very good. So that's another one on my list I'm thinking.

A couple of new titles (I think) Voodoo by Ron Marz with art by Sami Basri and I, Vampire by Josh Fialkov and Andrea Sorrentino.

In addition The Demon Knights does indeed (as I'd hoped) return The Demon to his roots in Medieval Camelot and has art by Diogenes Neves and Oclair Albert. Go Kirby vibe I hope.

Artists on the other titles also announced and do nowt to put me off this side of the DCU I have to say.

Edit: Well aside from that Demon cover by Tony Daniel (I think) that's just not my cup of tea. Mind he's not doing interiors so nowt to worry about

It would seem that Scott Snyder has tweeted the artists on Swamp Thing

And to be clear, the team on the book is @YanickPaquette as main artist, @f_francavilla on special fill-in issues and me. Big story planned

okay so things have taken a very interesting turn with the first of today's announcements.

via Bleeding Cool ( http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/06/07/dc-relaunch-john-constantine-in-the-justice-league-paul-cornell-jeff-lemire-scott-snyder-peter-milligan-and-more-bring-a-darker-dcu/ ) it would seem Entertainment Weekly have been given the scoop on DCs darker titles.

http://shelf-life.ew.com/2011/06/07/dc-comics-swamp-thing-frankenstein/

And it reads like the pre Vertigo 'Mature Reader Titles' to me.

A lot of interesting titles. Animal Man I've already gushed over (but check out that image!). Snyder (where does that 'y' go?) on Swamp Thing has me bought in and pretty excited. Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE coming out of his Flashpoint series both by Lemire as well. Assuming that the Flashpoint book isn't absolutely rubbish this one has me on side too.

The final two sound absolute rubbish... except and there really is a big but. Firstly I've been wondering what Paul Cornell would be on and he has a new title 'Demon Knights'
Quotesuper-heroism set in medieval times
which if anybody else was writing it I'd back away from. However its Cornell and I've stated by love for that fella before so will be checking this out at least (come on Paul on a Lex ongoing, still hoping...)

Finally... and I'll do this as a quote so people don't think I'm making this stuff up... finally...

Quote• Justice League Dark, what DC terms "a band of supernatural heroes" — John Constantine, Deadman, Shade the Changing Man and Madame Xanadu

Which is a bloody horrible idea, terrible... except its by Pete Milligan... and he might... if anybody can... he might just be able to make this work (or it'll be the most laughable comic ever but I'm going with make it work for now). On paper all five of them are in the pull list.... which is making the pull list too big and so some tough decisions coming... do I need to kidneys?

EDITED: I got the warning, knew The All Seeing Emperor had beaten me too it but dagnabbit I'd typed all that in and wasn't backing down!

I'm going to stop apologising for double posts on this thread to save us all time and energy. There's some much news out there even The Emperor can't keep up!* EDIT: Wayhey-  thanks to The Adventurer this line was necessary (but the principal still stands)

This one slipped under my radar in a hail of Morrison but strangely has really perked by interest. Ben Oliver briefly of these pastures is working with Judd Winick to produce Bat-Wing (ouch okay not keen on the name but hey) Africa's Batman. The concept alone perks my interest, Judd W can be a bit hit and miss but I'm hopefully but the setting if done well, and its something I suspect Judd W might be able to do well (?) is very interesting and makes this one a very strong contender to make the cut.

Also it may imply that the Batman Inc. philosophy will make it through the relaunch?

*Well actually I'm sure he can and I can only hope he doesn't take anger at my slight and use his internet omnniscients to crush me!

Bleeding Cool is running it as George Perez writing as well as drawing Superman. There's still Action Comics and if they are going to have a new Action Comics 1, as seems likely after Detective having gone the way of the renumber, putting a big name like Morrison on it will set that one on fire. We'll see. Personally I'd love to see a new Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane comic something along that vein and after the critical success of Nick Spencer's Jimmy Olsen back-up who knows. Oh and Lois Lane having a series in Flashpoint double who knows.

In my dream fantasy land Grant Morrison launches a new adventures of Jimmy Olsen as a vehicle to launch the new 5th World stories... oh go on let a man dream!

Batman Inc is going on hiatus while GM works on something that is soon to be announced:

Shame but it might mean that its been given space so it can fit into its own continuity in the old DC when it returns. Or somehow the Batman Inc philospohy is just put on hold for the relaunch to keep things simple but bubbles up again... oh man I'm speculating wayyyyy too much!

Agree that the more I think about the Firestorm series the more it heads to the defo list.

Oracle no more? Barbara Gordon is no longer wheelchair-bound? I'm betting that's going to cause a Marmite reaction in fans.

Yeah hard to argue with that. Gail Simone may well do something very interesting rather than just remove the whole Oracle thing. This is one I'm really intrigued by I have to say.

Quote from: Emperor on 06 June, 2011, 06:11:12 PMJeff Lemire on Animal Man, which sounds like an inspired move:
www.bleedingcool.com/2011/06/06/dc-relaunch-animal-man-1/

Fuck-a-doodle-doo that one has made my day. That's fuckin' amazingly good news. So good I'm using terms like fuck-a-doodle-doo for christs sake!

That and Gail Simone on a Barbara Gordon Bat Girl and I'm right back on side.

Bloomin' heck its an emotional roller-coaster this being a DC fan at the moment...

... or maybe I just need to get my perspective back... either way...

With apologies for the double post, cos I should have seen this before posting the last one. Bleeding Cool are reporting that George Perez will be doing 'Superman 1'. Nowt official to back this up. Love me some George Perez, admired what he did with Wonder Woman (unlike so many other artists that turn their hand to writing) but don't have any massive affection for Superman.

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/06/06/dc-relaunch-george-perez-to-write-and-draw-superman-1/

Another one for the maybe pile. After a good start getting a little worried by a trend of putting the creators I really like with characters, or other creators, I'm not so fussed about. Still long way to go and this could easily turn around.

I think you have to be really careful with it or there's a great danger of it becoming a very generic thriller. The problem it faces its the series genius lies in its exquisite delivery and craftmanship. Handled with anything other than a careful eye for the detail it'll become just another film about a hard man with a gun trying to get out but being sucked back in.

Well Bat-Books (or at least some of them) have been announced.

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/06/06/dc-comics-relaunch-batman-and-robin-dark-knight-and-batgirl/

Original source here

http://uk.comics.ign.com/articles/117/1172822p1.html

A lot of news crammed in there. Confirmation of Detective Comics 1, Bruce Wayne the only Batman (makes sense I suppose if you're trying to make this a simple entry point for people) as well as the creative teams.

So far I'm finding these disappointing. I'm loving Snyder on Dick Grayson in Detective but Greg Capullo isn't really a draw for me, not compared to Jock and Francisco Francella. So that one heads to the maybe pile. The rest just leave me cold. The Batman books as annouced are sure going to have a fussy, tight detailed, dark lite, flairy swishing cape thing going on. All the artists have a very similar style to my eyes and not one I'm a massive fan of.

Anyway we'll see what happens with Batman Inc and Dick later today but the Nightwing cover also going the rounds may answer one half of those anyway?

Its a shame, based on the very limited information I'm going on, as it seems to be more of the same, put removing some of the more interesting elements. Guess I should hold fire until Batman Inc. announcement to see if Grant Morrison gets to play here as that might re-stir my interest in the Bat franchise.

Now far be it from me to doubt the Emperor. I'm guessing that can only led to an embarrassed retreat, but is it really a follow up? Neither of those creators had owt to do with originals and it seems a strange one to resurrect?

Aside from the whole of the Internet whats ya source?
#17834
Yeah either Daniel Craig (if he'd be interested as you say really depends how big it is I guess). Or Sean Bean as a lower budget alternative would work for me.

Film & TV / June/July update for Button Man movie.

QuoteGenuine news about the possibility of a Button Man movie is expected sometime in June or July. You will be told. I am on tenterhooks.

Let the speculation begin!
