Enamoured Gideon

The mechanical interdimensional exorcist can't keep his mind on the job after he encounters and falls in love with a hitherto unknown giant 'female' robot, built by the Silent Ones.

Dredd Retconning

Judge Dredd slowly begins to realise that aspects of his own history aren't quite how he remembers them. No one believes him until Psi Division start picking up on the changes to reality. It would appear that someone has been altering the past, but whom and for what purpose?

Thought has definitely gone into it, because it's a spot-on emulation of the kind of thing to be found on the front of 1980s annuals, (with cues from the 1985 one in particular), though whether or not it'll draw in new readers is open to question.

I like it, (in spite of Rogue's extraneous dangly bits).

Quote from: Jade Falcon on 25 March, 2024, 03:05:17 PMI've had three complaints put in about him and he's still like this, so its making me think its not even accidental,

If it's genuinely stress that causing him to pace, it's likely not only that he can't help doing it, but that any confrontations or attempts to get him to stop could make him even more stressed, leading to him doing it all the more.

It's the same counterproductive principal as smacking a child to get them to stop crying. It just makes things worse.

But aye, I'd probably be looking into some kind of soundproofing, like Hawkmumbler suggests.

Quote from: Batman's Superior Cousin on 20 March, 2024, 07:57:11 PMI believe he mentioned that both Robin Low and Steve MacManus were sexist, misogynistic dinosaurs who claimed that her art wasn't up to standard (in other words, high quality) and that at the time, both upper Management and so-called "fans" (who were "busy" writing in to complain to Tharg about her art) had wanted her gone.

Steve McManus's side of the story on Mr. Bishop's blog here, (starting from the bit about Zarjaz monthly)...

I'm getting old annual cover vibes from the next issue preview.

Commando, (which probably has limited appeal for that age range), and I think Toxic magazine is still going but I don't know how much comic content, (if any), it currently has in it, (it was reprinting the previous Lew Stringer stories the last I heard, and that was a few years ago).

Yep. The "Damage Report" in the teeny tiny text of the Nerve Centre. There's currently a Zragian computer virus wreaking havoc in the Command Module.

Quote from: Fortnight on 02 March, 2024, 05:13:09 PMI spent the last two days racking my brain trying to remember this title, and it's a comedy, but your description reminded me of this: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090434/
It's set in a castle on a lake, with drac & frank, it's a TV series and the date is about right.

I got the impression that's what Eamonn was originally referring to...

Quote from: Eamonn Clarke on 27 February, 2024, 08:15:03 PMWas it by any chance a European co-production with dodgy dubbing?

Don't remember ever seeing the live action version but I got the original book out of the school library almost four decades ago. Seem to remember it was a direct, (unofficial, presumably legally dubious), sequel to the old Universal horror films, with a werewolf in it called Larry Talbot, described in such detail that you just thought "yep, that's Lon Chaney Jr".

Mid-eighties biologically, I think, (not counting any rejuve treatments).

She's certainly been shot in the head.

Quote from: Magnetica on 28 February, 2024, 12:43:49 PMShe might not even be dead. The way it is drawn the bullet is grazing the left hand side of her head. I'm assumimg it been drawn as a side on view from the opposite side to be deliberately ambiguous.

Yep. That's what I thought.

Quote from: Richard on 28 February, 2024, 12:49:11 PMI hope not, that would be such a cop-out!

But less predictable, and if she dies and everything resets back to "normal", that would arguably be a far greater cop-out.

Quote from: rogue69 on 27 February, 2024, 11:25:42 PMI was just reading the other day that Ukko was a Indo-European God of the Sky, Thunder, Lightning & Harvest in the same vain as Thor in Norse Mythology
Ukko is also held as the most significant god of Finnish mythology & is Finnish for 'male grandparent', 'grandfather'& 'old man"

Not quite the Ukko we all know and love

In Finland there is a town called Raahe. Raahe has a museum. In the museum is what is thought to be the world's oldest surviving diving suit, (18th century). The diving suit is known as "Wanha Herra" or "The Old Gentleman", is made of leather and has feet resembling traditional Finnish footwear.

This is what the suit looks like...

...which may seem somewhat familiar...
