Title: Button Man TV Show
Post by: JOE SOAP on 01 January, 2016, 03:20:05 AM
From Arthur Ranson's website:

John Wagner and I have just agreed a contract with Warner Television. This will allow them, via their subsidiary company 'Bad Robot', to make a pilot based on the first Button Man story 'The Killing Game'.

Should be interesting to see how they handle this and I hope it comes off for the creators and the fans alike!

Well, well well. I thought I'd heard of Bad Robot and had seem the name somewhere recently so looked them up.... they have quite the track record for big genra productions now don't they!

Button Man always seemed rip for conversation so lets hope it all goes well for John and Arthur.

Beautiful news! A really solid company in Bad Robot, adapting a really really great book to make a series out of, by the best writer. (And Arthur is great too of course)

I hope this makes it to series, and either way, hope I get to see this pilot!

Here's hoping this leads to a Kirkman-sized truckload of cash bring driven to Wagner and Ranson's doors.  Both men deserve nothing less. And damn the consequences.

Good news on the first day of a new year. That's always welcome. Hopeful the Button Man Pilot, if successful will generate more interest in toothy properties.

Yes, they've got a film out at the moment - currently pulling in an average of about $100 million a day for the last couple of weeks...

Ditto from me.

I can't say I'm looking forward to it too much - I don't see how they can get much mileage out of some Scotch lad doing drawings on Microsoft Paint and banging on about writing letters to Tharg.

They can offset the cost of the foreign travel segments with repeated use of the same hospital set. And the wardrobe requirements are very limited.

But the catering costs will be horrific.

Not to mention the laundry bills.

To early to give specific details but we have Toby Jones as Anne Robinson, Jason Bateman as my cardiologist (he's a ringer!) and Sandra Bullock as the beautiful Irene.Season 1 Arc is to be 'To create a Beast' with 'Quizzing : First Class - the Weakest 15' followed by 'My Dinners with Irene' and a left field finale of 'The Jogging Dead'. Very excited.

If only Look-In was still going - then Arthur could draw the comic strip adventures of the TV series, based on the comic strip.

Always nice when one of the comics great graces us with their presence, espacially someone as fantastic (and apparently very nice) as Mr Ranson. Thanks very much for popping by.

Welcome to the forum - I'm pretty sure TV development isn't as bad as movie development hell, so let's hope we have something before the decade is out ;-)

As others have said, thanks for so much great work over the years.  It's strange to say this as Brian created the original character (and there have been so many other great artists over the years) but yours is the definitive Anderson.

Pretty sure the first time I encountered your work was in the Goodies Book of Criminal Records - who thought you'd create such great comics based on that?

Typical. I go away from reading the board for a while, and Arthur Ranson shows up!  :o

Nice to see a grand master here, and really hope this series comes together. Much better that Button Man becomes a TV series instead of a movie, it needs to be episodic in my opinion.

OK, you got me. "hold out for the cash" - funny.
Could be a little pathetic but after often being treated as a non-person during the negotiations I was feeling grateful to have someone acting as though I were a real person. Seemed to be a good sign. A hint that someone wants to do this.

It's not pathetic, it is promising! And a nice gesture on theirbpart, either way.
