Sharky,
Instead of continuing with your latest offering, I found myself going back to your first post on this previously undiscovered thread.
The Scourge is a good old feature-length (but not too long) Future Shock, strongly reminiscent in both tone and execution of the sort of stories that entertained me way back when.
I appreciated the beginning which, if I'm not mistaken, is pure homage to Rendezvous With Rama – my all-time favourite classic sci-fi novel.
The final twist was easy to see coming (like in most Future Shocks) but no less satisfying for all that.
Then there's the moral of the story: Kill all extra-terrestrial lifeforms the moment you encounter them. No one's going to argue with you there.

Wait – what do you mean, that wasn't the moral of the story?
Why can't everybody just, y'know, be friends and everything? ... and uh ... And love each other!
