General / Models of Dredd No more.
31 May, 2012, 12:42:14 PM
Well it seems the house of Tharg dosn't like the Models of Dredd.
I see the whole thread has been removed.
Now I don't like the House of Tharg much at the moment, and as a loyal follower from prog 1 will seriously have to consider if I want to hang around.
Those of you that enjoyed the Models of Dredd can still find the blog on the internet, so keep in touch via that portal.
No more models on show here.

Books & Comics / The Complete Bad Company
17 April, 2011, 05:29:05 PM
Got the Complete Bad Company today, as it says complete, well almost, lacks a cover gallery but has some pre-production sketches in the back.
Nice phone book sized collection printed on glossy paper.
Comparison to Darkies Mob is obvious.
Nice bonus story in the back, the original Wagner/Grant/Ezquerra Bad Company pilot that was going to be in the Dredd fortnightly.

Books & Comics / Darkies Mob
11 April, 2011, 04:54:14 AM
I received the hardcover of Darkies Mob from Amazon Saturday.
The production of the book is very good indeed and includes an intro from Garth Ennis, a reprint of an annual text story and cover gallery.
All the language is present and correct. Boy it sure is brutal in places.
Next up...Major Eazy,Rat Pack and the Best of Land Battle all promised this year.

Books & Comics / Art collection insurance
16 August, 2007, 08:55:18 PM
Having bought the Hook Jaw art the other day makes me realise just hoe priceless my collection of original art is and if anything happened to it I doubt I'd get reimbured on the house insurance, despite having a collectables policy written in.
So, does any one who collects original have their's insured and for how much, how do you guage how much a page is worth, who is anyone insured with etc?

Prog / PROG 1546 Law Crimes
14 July, 2007, 10:04:15 AM
Another prog on a Saturday, the subs dept realy have it together of late..

Lovely cover by McNeil

Dredd, this is sooo good. Plus Rico and Beeny return.

86ers, coming along nicely.

Greysuit, still lovin' this. Lots of gorey action.

Robo-Hunter, is it me or do I get the distinct impression Ian Gibson hates doing this strip.
Worst art from him ever?

Defoe, continues to intrigue. Mills throws more ideas in here than a hundred episodes of Robo-Hunter and Gallaghers art is fantastic.

Good prog, apart from Robo-Hunter, 8 out of 10.

Prog / Prog 1545 city of the living dead
09 July, 2007, 09:43:44 AM
Prog 1545 has landed.
Is this a tie in to the Dredd story Mutants In Mega City One?
As I opened the envelope today I thought is this the Megazine? But no, it's my very own Mutant prog. Basically 2 progs have been bound together, get half way through and the whole prog starts again including cover. Cock up at the printers I guess?
Any way,
Cool Cover by Nick Percival.
Dredd: This has me more excited than Origins.
Return Of Samantha Slade, ho hum.
Greysuit, lovin' it.
(Mutant Prog).
86ers, cool.
Defoe, lovin' this too.
Return of letters, raay!!
Best Prog for ages.

General / 1410... display this with Barbie?
05 October, 2004, 03:28:34 AM
After the debate at Dreddcon as to who the audience should be for 2000,and wether a younger readers edition should be in the market look at this weeks hard ass cover.
Last week we had the lovely storybook look of Ian Gibsons Robo-Hunter cover, looking like a kids comic, sitting next to the juvenile titles in W.H.Smiths fitting in well,''ooh look at the cute dragon'' says Mum, ''I'll buy this for little Tommy'', and now this week we have this superb rendition of Dredd surrounded by nuclear holocaust. Next to Barbie? I don't think Mum will be buying for little Tommy this time.
Still at least it will stand out in the mass of kids comics on the rack this week.

Other Reviews / Open water
04 September, 2004, 12:43:00 AM
Just seen Open water.
I was expecting Blair Witch style, which is what was given, the less you see the more scary it is, but I'm afraid this movie left me cold. For me there was no suspense, bad acting and although the script tried to make you care about the two characters I just didn't.
A very disapointing movie.

For total fear and suspence look out for Haute Tension (High Tension) a French serial killer film to be relased here uncut this month. I belive it is going by the title Switchblade Killer.
This movie had me on the edge of the seat and the most scared I have ever been in all the years I have been watching Horror movies. This is Dario Argento on speed, gory as hell and ten times as scary. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

Help! / Clive Barker whats up?
28 August, 2004, 03:30:30 AM
Just bought the Region 1 special Edition of Candyman.
Well worth a tenner.
Clive Barker, the Peter Pan of horror, appears in the documentries and on the commemtery track.
The guy looks so old, very ill and his voice is shot to hell.
Any body know if Barker is ill or is it just Hollywood excess?
