General / Re: MARCH ART COMP - VOTING THREAD
28 March, 2016, 01:33:25 PM
Great topic suggestions for the comp always yield fabulous entries, as proven again with this months feast for the eyes. As a rule I would be drawn to the black & white art, but this time around the boys with the crayons have really knocked the artistic ball out of the playground.

1. Jon - Warp Spasm. A superb dramatic rendering of Slaine's 'warp out' that would make a dam fine wrap-around cover for the Prog.

2. IAMTHESYSTEM - 2000BC. Another wonderful piece, I really like the 'Pulp' feel given by composition and palette used.

3. Steven Denton2 - Renegade Trooper. A nice clean illustration, packed with detail. Reminiscent of Chris Western in rendering and colour.

HM. stuartcatley - Knight Dredd. A great image of Dredd with a fine rethink of his armour for a bygone age.

Again, a very high standard all round, a salute to all those who took part... and a tip of the hat to the master of the vote CFM.

All the best. Stew. :D

It looks like I've missed out on another great comp again this month, well done to all who made the effort and took part.

1. Darren Stephens - Brother Morgar. A  superb rendition of an old favourite.
2. Andy Lambert - Tara-Tara Terror. A great dramatic image.
3. Steven Denton - Mean Machine. It a picture paints a thousand words... then Mean's just been a pillagin' 'n' a killin'!

HM. Tombonin, Pictsy, Paulmhd and deedeetee.  :D

Hi all.

Quick post to say that I've just received my prize, the superb Insurrection: Liberty by the creative geniuses Abnett & MacNeil.

Wow! Cheers all.  :D

A great topic picked by Neil, it certainly brought out the best in everyone and enticed a whole new group of artistic talent out onto the Forum. This has been the first time that I've won the vote since I started entering the art comp in 2011, so a big thank you to all those who took the time to vote, you've made an old litter picker very happy.

And as always, thanks go to the Crazy Fox, who keeps this visual treat going month after month. There will be cake...

All the best. Stew. (SKD)

What a month with so many tremendous entries proving yet again that the 2000AD Forum is awash with a terrific amount of talent.

1. Steven Austin – Dark Judges. A menacing, classic cover type collective superbly rendered with a Death to die for.
2. Neil McClements4 – Fear. A wonderful re-working of a familiar uniform perfectly executed. And who doesn't adore a giant maggot spewing open wound eh?
3. Darren Stephens – Deathhead. I love the palette that Darren has used on this image, from the zombie flesh green features to the gore red oozing pustules on Deaths helm.
4. James Dilworth – Sidney. This creepy grinning visage reflects well the psychopathic evil brewing within the young De'ath.
5. LARF – Red Death. This 'Elseworld' or 'What If...?' take on Death really ticks all the boxes from composition to colour. A great idea excellently realised.

HM. Fiona Boniwell, james newell, amines 2058, Leigh S, MrLongtheArtist and Andy Lambert.
Fantastic works all.

Once again it's not been an easy month to whittle it down to a top three, with so much Lawmaster love out
there giving rise to a lawtastic crop of entries.
But with the aid of the 'Dartboard of Decision' here's my top of the (auto) shop.  ;)

1. dancornwell – Prog 01.
2. warwick fraser-coombe – Lawmaster.
3. Neil McClements – Cursed Earth Style.

HM. Darren Stephens, Sean Smith, antodonnell, juddafett, chris_askham.

Big thanks once again to CFM for running this creative cornucopia.
All the best. Stew.

Lovely Nigel Dobbyn page hippynumber1, he did some superb work on Medivac 318. And a cracking early buy Rex Banner. That Ichabod Azrael is just stunning, I can't wait for the new series to start.  :D

Other Reviews / Re: Rogue Trooper: IDW #4

Sorry to see this series end, as I much prefer IDWs efforts on Rogue to their attempt at re-writing Dredd. The art may not have always been my cup of tea, though it has had its moments, but the script has been superb, combining enough familiarity with an injection of fresh ideas. Hopefully this will not be the last we see of this incarnation of our favourite GI.

Gets harder to pick a winner each month as yet again all worthy of votes ... But here goes.

1.  james newell – Misty Nemesis. A great idea well executed, evoking a bygone age of blackjacks and Chopper bikes
2.  Archie – Chief Judge Krysler. Now there's a story I'd like to see.
3. DoomBot – Dredd Smiles? Possibly the most sinister and disturbing image I've seen in many a year.

HM. Allistermac, antodonnel, Bhuna, RaggedMan & ZenArcade.
