Hi all

The latest issue of SENTINEL is on kickstarter for 12 more days.

Wolfriders is a manga inspired fantasy action adventure. It's got good vs evil, elves riding wolves (yes, inspired by the old Elfquest series, natch), an evil queen, magic, fighting, adventure and, oooh, a lot more - all crammed into 64 pages of pure entertainment.

Comic Book News UK said the following: "Wolfriders is a must-read for comic enthusiasts looking for a standalone adventure that blends classic fantasy elements with the distinct style of Manga. It's a fun, action packed fantasy adventure that's filled with elves, wolves, tons of action and heart."

The "B" cover is from Keith Robson, acclaimed Starblazer cover artist, and it's beautiful. It's his second for Sentinel, the only publication he done a cover for in over 25 years.

The first NINE pages are on the Kickstarter, so take a look and see if it floats your boat. And shares on social media would be VERY appreciated - got to help the indies, eh?

ANyway, here's the KS link: LINK IN POST RPELY

Hope you like this, can't dent that artist Paul Spence really channels Massimo. The whole thing was a labour of love. Some wonderful background silliness, and a lovely tribute at the bottom of the final page.

I always loved the strip, as did Paul.

We decided to take another run at this, simply because it's fun. We did over eighty previously and will release a new strip every Saturday.

Hi everyone

We launched issue 13 at the weekend on Kickstarter and it quickly reached our initial target.

Obviously, the more people back it the better and I hope a few here will take a bite.

Fulll details and the first nine pages are on the Kickstarter, some great art by Mac Art in this one. Original art is available, too!

Just imagine Dog Soldiers meets Predator and go from there..

Here's what some of 2000ADs finest have said about it:

General / Dave "Bolt 01" Evans Charity Anthology
29 December, 2022, 11:04:23 AM
A tribute to Dave Evans who helped and encouraged us by showcasing our work through his publications, Zarjaz, Dogbreath and FutureQuake.

The anthology will feature a collection of strips/pin ups from the cream of both Indie and Pro creators, some who got their first work published with Dave. Alan has giving me a steady flow of strips and artwork with more to come. Planned as an A4 Hardback, similar in style to the classic 2000AD annual, it will be heading to Kickstarter.

We're both grateful for the time given to this project by the writers and artists involved.
Proceeds from the sale of this Anthology via kickstarter and beyond will be donated to a charity chosen by Dave's family.

A fitting one off publication for a man that was much loved.

If any of you have pictures of Daves Doodles or little anecdotes you'd like to share, please get in contact with me. We'd love to feature them in this.

General / BRAND NEW Ace TRucking Strip online
06 December, 2022, 10:41:43 AM
Though some of you joobs might like to see the brand new Ace Trucking strip by Paul Spence that's up on the Massimo Bellardinelli fan page on that there Facebook.

It's the absolutely true story (ahem) of how Ace became a space trucker. It's genuinely funny, captures the strip's feel perfectly and Paul's art is worthy of an official reboot (he's a massive Massimo devotee).

Give it a read, if you're an Ace fan you'll love it

Books & Comics / The Return of SENTINEL
25 July, 2022, 01:17:56 PM
It's been a while, but sentinel will return this year with the twelfth issue - VALHALLASAUR

Three Viking ships set off for Iceland (to their colonies) but a terrible storm means that only one survives, blown far off course and landing on a mysterious island. On that island something hunts them...

As accurate as we could make it on the Viking side, it's an action packed tale that goes one step further than the reader will expect, a sixty four page complete story.

Written by Alan Holloway with art and cover by Ed Doyle, both veterans of Zarjaz, Dogbreath, The 77, Sector 13, Comicscene and more.

alternative cover (in progress below) by Andy Lambert.

SENTINEL has had a slow down recently due to artists finding the time to do the issues, but there are currently over ten in various stages of production, plus plans for a plus size compilation.

There may be imitators, but no one does it quite like SENTINEL

Just over a year ago, the indie comics community lost a major player in Dave Evans, known as Bolt 01.

An editor, artist, letterer and more, Dave was responsible for editing many years of Zarjaz, Dogbreath and Futurequake magazines, as well as working on many, many more.

We felt he should be remembered by the community he dedicated so much time to, and what better way than a comic strip collection.

Although the format will be A4, we don't know how many pages etc as first we need comic creators to come forward and offer their services, with priority to those who worked with Dave.

There's no payment, with any profit going to a mental health charity nominated by his family, who support us 100 per cent in this.

If you're interested, please contact us with any questions and we'll get things moving. We're looking for strips of up to five pages, with original content, plus likely some pin up type pages.

Hopefully we can publish in May 2023.

Sorry to waffle - let's do it, and do him proud.

Books & Comics / Evolution Of A Cover (Partick Goddard)
09 December, 2021, 01:27:08 PM
We asked Paddy Goddard to do a cover for the next issue of Sentinel, coming early 2022. It's called Dark Matter and is an action packed story about a unique team of mercenaries.

He doesn't do colour, so we will be doing that digitally, but I though you might be interested in tghe oprocess.

First, we got to choose one of these.

Then he did an A4 sketch

Then the final cover on A3 card though the image itself is almost square due to the format

Hi everyone, to promote Sentinel to people who may not have read one yet, we're givibng away a free downoad of Issue 2: Scales Of Justice.

WHat if the Roman Empire had discovered an island populated by dragons? WHat if the slaughtered them except those xcaptured for breeding as slaves and gladiators. What is generations down the line, a group of gladiator dragons decided they'd had enough...

100 per cent positive feedback, and a grauitous ABC Warriors refernce half way througfh (see if you spot it).

Here's the link, enjoy! If you do, maybe back issue, To Be A Hero, which is a wholly original take on the superhero genre. (Kickstarter launch tomorrrow, see other post)

Books & Comics / To Be A Hero launches 10th July
25 June, 2021, 10:35:44 AM
Hi there

The nest issue of Sentinel comic is called "To Be A Hero". It's a 64 page single story comic written by ALan Holloway and drawn by Andrew Richmond.

Whilst it's the first stab at superheroes by the publication, they're confident it is like no hero story you've ever read before, because why bother doing one otherwise!

Combining the aesthetic of Starblazer with classic Jack Kirby sensibilities and modern storytelling, this one is poised to be the most popular yet.

Oh, and there's a neat Mike Collins limited variant cover, too
