In an effort to continue the sexism here,

Purity Brown vs Durham Red

Cass Anderson vs Gallen De Marco

Who would you prefer? (To win)

The challengers from the first two bouts would then, bloddy but impeccably couiffoured, to the final. Who would win then?

So long as the cover has a terrified Tommy holding back the hordes of undead with one final plea...

Help! / Re: OT: LOTR TT
09 June, 2003, 10:46:36 PM
Two Towers was too much of an action flick and suffered for it. I re-read the Lord of the Rings before the first film came out and the violence/ battles seemed to play a more minor role that in the films. Maybe they could have cut down the battle and concentrated more on telling a story?

I feel the elf/ dwarf baiting was part of the story and could stay - the film just updated it and can be forgiven for it.

The shield surfing was just plain shit though - that is the only image of the film I bear in my mind. It should be excised from the director's cut. I refure to believe it was included other than to sate some Hollywood desire to make sure the film was "with the kids".

LOTR, like Star Wars, should revel in its own mythology. The new Star Wars films, and the TT, suffer in my view because they pander to current trends. If they want to be classics they should rise above it.

Good stuff. Now you can worry about:

1) Your direct debit coming off on (seemingly) random days of the month. Sometimes twice in one month, sometimes once, sometimes none at all.

2) Unannounced increases in your direct debit. No letters saying what's going on, hey, that's just part of the Direct Debit code.

3) Your prog/ meg not arriving on a Monday, causing much weeping and gnashing of teeth.

My insuer tells me I need to give a value for my collection. Sorry for the rambling post. My question is this: who can give me a valuation?

It needs to be sufficiently official to satisfy Direct Line; not just a "Well, I think it is worth X"

Have any of you insured your comics? I have a complete set of 2K, all the specials, all the annuals and all the original print anciallaries (eg poster progs, team ups), all the Complete Dredd/ Law in Order. Everything, in fact, other than the Best Ofs/ Eagle reprints.

I reckon this lot would cost over ?1500 to replace, which is the ceiling for notifying most UK home insurance companies about the collection. Given that they are kept in my loft they could be damaged by damp, rain coming through a hole, or a busrt pipe or water tank.

What do you think it would cost to replace them? Any idea who would value them? To have them insured, you need to have a valuation passed to the insurer.
